God see’s our tomorrow not just our today!

Judges 6:12 HCSB
Then the Angel of the Lord appeared to him and said: “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.”
Ju
Say wait pastor Aaron you skipped a verse…well yes I did. ON purpose to make a point. When God looked at Gideon he didn’t see him where he was…he didn’t even see him as the questioning testing unsure person that Gideon was. He saw what Gideon was going to be.
If we are going to go Out The Door, if we are going to really attempt to follow God’s call no matter where it takes us. We have to actually believe we can be what God has made us to be. I know this sounds like some sort of think positive new age idea but it’s not. I’m not talking about us being our best self living our best life. I’m not talking about staking our claim for the Blessings of God in our life because we are supposed to be Blessed. I’m not talking about thinking we are more than we were created to be. Or naming and claiming our riches.
Too many people look at the church and look at their friends that go to church and they see the church that person attends they don’t see Jesus. When we embrace the reality that God made us for a purpose, and if God made us for that purpose HE will equip us to fulfill that purpose then our lives will be what he designed them to be.

There’s safety in our box...

Judges 6:11 HCSB
The Angel of the Lord came, and He sat under the oak that was in Ophrah, which belonged to Joash, the Abiezrite. His son Gideon was threshing wheat in the wine vat in order to hide it from the Midianites.
Lets be clear Gideon needed to be safe. Don’t believe that just read the beginning of Chapter 6. Everything was destroyed, lay waste. The bad guys were compared to locusts ruining everything.
It’s so much safer to stay in the box, so much safer to stay home. So much more predictable to not step out of our comfort zone . Staying in the box means we control, staying in the box means everyone looks like we do. Staying in the box means everyone will affirm us, tell us we are right, make us feel important and special and needed.

Living in what was keeps us from what is and what will be...

Judges 6:13 HCSB
Gideon said to Him, “Please Sir, if the Lord is with us, why has all this happened? And where are all His wonders that our fathers told us about? They said, ‘Hasn’t the Lord brought us out of Egypt?’ But now the Lord has abandoned us and handed us over to Midian.”

Our strength is enough if God says it is.

Judges 6:14 HCSB
The Lord turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and deliver Israel from the power of Midian. Am I not sending you?”

15 He said to Him, “Please, Lord, how can I deliver Israel? Look, my family is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the youngest in my father’s house.”

16 “But I will be with you,” the LORD said to him. “You will strike Midian down as if it were one man.”

This Weeks Challenge

Take out a piece of paper and write the answer to these three question.
Am I stuck in my box and if so why?
Have I been trying to relive the glory days?
Am I living in the strength God has given or am I trying to live in my own strength?
Read all of this week in preparation for next weeks sermon.
