Has anyone ever asked you the Question....
“Good News or Bad News: Which Do You Want First?”
Choosing to tell good news over bad news—or vice versa—depends on what you want the recipient to do.
Experiments showed that an overwhelming majority—more than 75 percent—wanted the bad news first.
one phycologist stated.
"If people know they are going to get bad news, they would rather get it over with,”
Then there is what she calls the good news, bad news, good news sandwich—when the bad news comes between piece of good news on either side.
Example: "Your cholesterol is down. By the way, your blood pressure is morbidly high, but Your blood sugar levels are good.”
So today I want to use the sandwich of the good news and bad.
The Good news is, “The Gospel” the Bad news is “We are sinners and by nature rebellious towards God’s authority in our lives and independent in our thinking but the “Good news” is we have a Savior in Jesus!
Tozar Quoted
The tragedy of today is we often hear the gospel appeal made on this kind of basis:
“Come to Jesus! You do not have to obey anyone.
You do not have to change anything.
You do not have to give up anything, alter anything, surrender anything, or give back anything
—just come to Him and believe in Him as Savior!
Today we will learn “How” to recognize our need for a savior and “How” Jesus saves us through his, Death, Burial, and resurrection.
Let’s turn our Bibles to…..
Romans 3:23 KJV 1900
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
This is very important, because if a sinner doesn’t know he’s a sinner then there is know need for a savior.
A Glimpse of Hell
Luke 16:23–28 KJV 1900
And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence. Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father’s house: For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.
In the sixteenth chapter of Luke’s gospel, we have recorded the words of our Lord Jesus Christ concerning the pleading of the rich man who died and was suffering in hell.
In the sixteenth chapter of Luke’s gospel, we have recorded the words of our Lord Jesus Christ concerning the pleading of the rich man who died and was suffering in hell.
He was alone.
But became an evangelist from hell, how can you become an evangelist in this life.
It’s the “How” will you receive the “Gospel?” the answer is through, “Jesus Christ our Lord”
Romans 6:23 KJV 1900
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
When we realize the imminent consequence of our independent, self-centered lifestyle like, the rich man lived
We may be more inclined to hear and obey the “Gospel” and repent of our sin.
According to the Law of God, the only way to save a person in sin was through the sacrifice of Holy Blood ….
Hebrews 9:22 KJV 1900
And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.
This problem began with Adam And Eve in the Garden, we as the human race inherited that sinful nature.
For this reason, No man qualified to be a sacrifice to pay for the sins of others.
God saw that from the beginning and had a plan in his great love for us came in the form of a Man, “Jesus, the Christ.
To be that qualifying sacrifice, and save us from our sins.
1 Timothy 3:16 KJV 1900
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
1 John 3:16 KJV 1900
Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
The purpose for which Christ died was was to pay the penalty of our sins.
Let’s look at….
John 15:13 KJV 1900
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
EX: Judus was called a “Friend.”
EX: Judus was called a “Friend.”
Betrayed him for a small amount of money.
He killed himself because he could’t live with himself.
“The Past is a good place to learn from, but is a bad place to live”
The 1st act of the “Good News” is “He Died for us”
You can become his friend by “Faith” it’s driven by “Love”
1 Thessalonians 5:8 KJV 1900
But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
We need salvation for this life from sin as well as hope for the return of Jesus and the Kingdom of God.
We have 2 examples of how to be saved
EX: 1st is Nicodemus
John 3:3–5 KJV 1900
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
John 3:3-5
Peter’s Answer on the Day of Pentecost
Acts 2:36 KJV 1900
Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
“Know” The Greek meaning is experientially. Isreal believed, knew of him, but denied him as there savior.
“They crucified him” but when
“They heard this” they were convicted. Have we lost conviction today?
Then Peter said....
Acts 2:38 KJV 1900
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Acts 2:38
Paul states by Grace are you saved (unmerited Favor) and (matt 10:22) states that he that endures to the end shall be saved.
Your Relationship must be rooted in “Love” which drives your “faith” (Hope) to be beyond religious knowledge.
The Kingdom of God
What is the kingdom of God? How does it relate to salvation?
Jesus stated “The Kingdom of God was at hand, Jesus was the ruler of the universe.
The kingdom is explained in....
Romans 14:17 KJV 1900
For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
So “How” do we endure to the end?
The Holy Ghost!
It gives “Joy” “peace” and Righteousness and Hope for his return.
The 2nd part of the Gospel was the “Burial of Christ” in the tomb.
He was in the tomb for 3 day’s no person could live without food or water that long especially after his brutal beating and crucifixion.
The Tomb represented Death and fears ECT
There were “Angels” Appointed to the “Door” , Jesus was announced “Alive”
Feed your “Faith” with the “Good News” and starve your fears.
Everybody “Clap your hands”
The 3rd step is even better than the other two.
Christ Died and was buried but on the 3rd day he rose again.
Christ conquered death by rising from the dead ()
In the book of , it states that Jesus heal would stomp that Devil’s head.
“He’s Brain damaged” Turn to your neighbor and say
“He’s Brain damaged”
During those 3 days “Jesus Got some key’s to the gates of hell”
“You see, when Hell came to Earth, Heaven was waiting”
They thought they had him dead, but now, he turned over the Key’s to “loose” (Set the captive free) or to “lock up.”
Conclusion:
This right was given to us who have repented and obeyed the “Good News”
Romans 6:23 KJV 1900
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
“How Beautiful it is”
Today You have seen “How” Christ Loved and saved you.
Repenting of your Sins today is part a salvation package for the remission of sin.
Luke 24:47 KJV 1900
And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
