Today we are going continue our study of the life of Joseph and will finish up next week.
It has been an incredible study. He had the protection of the Lord over his life yet at age 17 was almost murdered by his brothers, sold him to some desert merchants, who then sold him to Potiphar, Pharaoh’s captain of the guard in Egypt.
The Lord was with him so Potiphar grew trustworthy of joseph put Joseph in charge of his possessions. Potiphar’s wife had a certain attraction for Joseph and attempted to sleep with him but when he refused her she lied on him to her husband and had him put in prison.
The Lord was with him.
Last week we spoke about Pharaoh’s Cupbearer and Baker who were sent to the same prison in which Joseph was able to interpret some dreams that they both experienced on the same night.
The cupbearer was about to be restored back to pharaoh, but the baker was about to be killed.
Joseph asked that when all goes well, that the cupbearer remember him & get him out of prison. But the cupbearer forgot Joseph, not for one or two days but for 2years.
So Joseph spent two years wondering when the Lord would release him from wrongful imprisonment…. Note: not when the cup bearer, nor pharaoh would release him, but God.
WTD: Sometimes waiting on the Lord requires patience, But the waiting is always worth it….. and the deliverance is always on time.
Chapter41
The Pharaoh has two dreams first that seven FAT cows grazing by the Nile are eaten by seven thin cows. In his second dream he sees seven full heads of grain growing on a stalk swallowed by seven thin heads of grain.
Pharaoh sent for all his magicians and wise men, but none of them could interpret his dreams.
Why was that? I’m sure they had answers to all of the other problems.
It was because and you can Note: the Lords plan for his servants trumps the plans of the world.
LAN: say don’t worry, God is always with you.
All of a sudden, that same cupbearer remembers his shortcomings you would think he was referring to Pharaoh but he would have said that … he’s referring to Joseph Not Pharaoh.
If Joseph had been brought out when he wanted to, the effect would not have been the same. Why is that? Because Pharaoh’s dream occurred 2yrs later.
Why is that? Because Pharaoh’s dream occurred 2yrs later.
Note: Our times are always convenient but ineffective, the Lords times are on time & effective
LAN: Whatever you are eagerly expecting from the Lord, wait on it.
For they that wait on the Lord, will be renewed. CAN YOU GIVE GOD A ROUND OF APPLAUSE?
The cupbearer was not supposed to remember 2yrs ago…… or he would have.
I’m sure Joseph’s character was challenged and tweaked in those two years.
God gets the most our of our time: When God says not right now, the preparation time is always effective.
So Joseph is brought before pharaoh and let’s read vs 15-16…. So after 2 yrs Joseph gives God the Glory.
Joseph is told the dreams and then Joseph interprets the dreams clearly. Read 28-40
Read vs 28-37 ….Joseph gives the Pharaoh great advice in telling him to stock up in the years of plenty in preparation of the years of famine.
Pharaoh is amazed, not by Joseph, because he is just a man: but by the wisdom allotted to him by God.
Note: the wisdom of God can cut through the ranks of man. Let’s see how that happens.
Read 38-40… Not only did Pharaoh put Joseph in charge of Egypt only second to Pharaoh’s thrown, but that makes him over the captain of the guard which puts him over Potiphar and his wife. Joseph had the right to be mad and vengeful towards Potiphar’s wife….. however
If Joseph had any vengeful feelings toward her do you think God would have used him to be lifted up by pharaoh? Note: the Lord doesn’t have time for your vengeance because He says vengeance is His.
Note: if you are looking for a promotion to glorify self, don’t wonder why you haven’t been promoted. The Lord promotes for His purpose.
Take note of the Lord’s timing to what is happening here.
Joseph was 17 years old when he told his brothers his dreams, and from there it seemed to go down hill but 13 yrs later at the age of 30 years old is 2nd in charge of EGYPT.
LAN: and say “Wait on the Lord”
Sometimes waiting on the Lord requires patience, because in that patience your character is built. But the waiting is always worth it….. and the deliverance is always on time.
God’s time is not sometimes on time but ALWAYS ON TIME.
LAN: GOD’S TIME IS ALWAYS ON TIME.
