Can you lose your salvation?
Can you lose your salvation?
Why is it important?
We all have an appointment with death.
The federal government estimates that per mile traveled in 2015, the number of deaths on motorcycles was nearly 29 times the number in cars.
In the early 80’s 3% were above 50. 2016 36% were above 50.
40% single vehicle/ 60% multiple vehicle.
Death rate over time is 100%
When you die, something or nothing will happen afterward.
And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment,
Reservations for dinner. (Steak N Shake) Movies
How do you make reservations?
And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment,
Scales of Justice: Good vs Bad (Lots of pressure)
Jesus not only paid for the bad but also puts his foot on the scale on the good.
If we can know that we have salvation, and that we can’t loose it, then the pressure to be perfect is gone!
The pressure to be perfect is gone!
Last week : 1. Tough message
2. Monday Dropped my bike
3. Tues/Wed/Thurs
4. Friday : training new people/ Work piled up.
Yesterday: Hang out here- got to serve- went to dinner with Martye. We laughed.
Last week:
For in the case of those who have once been enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit,
and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come,
and then have fallen away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance, since they again crucify to themselves the Son of God and put Him to open shame.
Implication: You can walk away from your salvation, if you do you can never (impossible) get it back.
(Chainsaw Warning)
This morning we are going to look at another passage in Hebrews that is troubling if you believe that once you are saved, you are always saved.
But First:
1. How we interpret the Bible (How do we reconcile seemingly contradictory passages?)
Koran - Abrogation
66 Books 40 (ish) authors Inspired by the Holy Spirit without error.
Comentaries
Bible Dictionaries
Listen to Pastors I trust
Study bible.
Scripture is the ultimate authority.
2. This message is for you to apply to your own life!
If you are looking to me to tell you weather you are saved, you are in the wrong Church.
I can tell you what the Bible says, but only you can say weather you have a saving relationship with the living God through Jesus the Christ.
I can give you an opinion, but that is all it is.
How much severer punishment do you think he will deserve who has trampled under foot the Son of God, and has regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace?
Hebrews 10:
Hebrews
For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,
but a terrifying expectation of judgment and the fury of a fire which will consume the adversaries.
Anyone who has set aside the Law of Moses dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses.
How much severer punishment do you think he will deserve who has trampled under foot the Son of God, and has regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace?
For we know Him who said, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay.” And again, “The Lord will judge His people.”
It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
Go on sinning willfully: Not mess up. temporarily fall into temptation.
After receiving the knowledge of Truth
There no longer remains a sacrifice for sin.
Set aside the Law of Moses: .
Trampled under foot the Son of God.
Living God.
Two Groups
Those that seemed to have it all together, but walked away.
Those that claimed salvation, but never changed.
If we accept that they were genuinely saved, then we also have to accept that there is no more hope for them.
Chapter 6: Impossible
Chapter 10: No longer remains a sacrifice for sin
They went out from us, but they were not really of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but they went out, so that it would be shown that they all are not of us.

How can we know that we are saved?
But remember the former days, when, after being enlightened, you endured a great conflict of sufferings,
partly by being made a public spectacle through reproaches and tribulations, and partly by becoming sharers with those who were so treated.
For you showed sympathy to the prisoners and accepted joyfully the seizure of your property, knowing that you have for yourselves a better possession and a lasting one.
Therefore, do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward.
For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised.
For yet in a very little while,
He who is coming will come, and will not delay.
But My righteous one shall live by faith;
And if he shrinks back, My soul has no pleasure in him.
But we are not of those who shrink back to destruction, but of those who have faith to the preserving of the soul.
Hebrews 10:32-
How can we know that we are saved?
