Prayer

Lord, I thank you for a great season and the harvest of souls gathered here today for our end of season celebration.
Lord our ministry for basketball is intentional because it’s here at your church. Lord we know that some would not have never set foot in a church, but they are here for their children.
This is the culmination of our season, the children have learned of you during the past eight weeks and You are the reason for everything we do here.
I pray that I’m able to convey the gospel in a way that it will reach those whom you have tugged on their hearts for some time now. Move me out the way as I deliver you word, and may you be glorified today, In the name of your Son and our savior Jesus Christ.

Introduction

Hello, I’m Pastor Scott, and some of you may recognize me some of you may not, but we put all of this together for this specific moment. This is the reason we turn on the lights.
I won’t take much of your time, but I must seek out those who want God in their lives and I’ll be able to do that in a couple of steps, so please bear with me.

Direction

I want to ask you five questions to determine where God is working in your life.
When I ask the question, I will pause for you to think about it, and I’ll move on to the next question.

Step One

Use questions that determine where God is working.

Do you have any kind of spiritual belief?
To you, who is Jesus
Do you believe there is a heaven and a hell?
If you died right now, where would you go? If heaven why? I’ve had people tell me because they are good people.
If what you believe were not true, would you want to know it?
The dividing line is in your answer to the last question. If the answer is “Yes,” then we open the Bible and proceed.
If the answer to the last question is “No,” do nothing and thank the person for their time.

Step Two

Let the Bible speak

Ask the person to read the verse aloud.
Then ask, “What does this say to you?” I won’t ask for all of you to answer me but I will pause to have you think about it.

Romans 3:23 ESV
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Romans 6:23 ESV
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
John 3:3 ESV
Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
Why did Jesus come to die?
Some know the answer to this question and a number of you don’t know the answer. Let’s move on.
John 14:6 ESV
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Romans 10:9–11 ESV
because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.”

2 Corinthians 5:15 ESV
and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised.

Revelation 3:20 ESV
Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.

Closing Key Questions

These questions affect your eternity—this is why we turn the lights on and do everything that we do here at the church. It all comes to this moment in time, to ask you these five important questions:
Are you a sinner?
Do you want forgiveness for your sins?
Do you believe Jesus died on the cross for you and rose again?
Are you willing to surrender your life to Christ? (Count the Cost) “Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?
Are you ready to invite Jesus into your heart and into your life? But before you answer that
I want you to understand something, profession is not salvation. Untold numbers of people know of Jesus, even demons know Jesus. The question that counts, does Jesus know you?
