Introduction:

Questioning of the state of Israel?
Review Chapters 6-8 i.e. Life in the Spirit, child of God etc.
Remember what Paul’s audience is, it is not only Gentiles but Jewish as well. What makes this section important is that Paul will describe how the gospel is God’s work in salvation and what the state of Israel currently is.
Paul in the first few verses indicates this point for us, in that he desires as Jew for Christ to be made known to his Jewish kinsmen.

Chapter 9-Divine Calling

Salvation was never for the “nation” but to those who believed in the promises of the nation.
Go back to the Abrahamic covenant and God’s promises.
What is important to remember is that God calls whom He desires and wills, not the other way around.

Chapter 10- Salvation to All

The nature of imputed righteousness is based on faith not on works of the Law.
Focus in on verses 1-4

Chapter 11- Promise fulfilled to Israel

God has not rejected his people Israel
God has hardened his people Israel (5-10)
