I want to welcome those who are present on behalf of the family or families involved, to share in this very precious, and joyous occasion.
It is always a joy when new life comes to bless a Family. Amen!
And Father:____Tyronne Townsend___ and Mother:___Swadhyaya Townsend have been blessed by the birth of this wonderful baby boy:___Tau James Townsend___. We thank God for his life and for his safe and healthy birth. We thank God for his growth over these last several months.
Scripture: Jesus Blesses the Children
Jesus Blesses the Children
Mark 10:13 ESV
And they were bringing children to him that he might touch them, and the disciples rebuked them.
Mark 10:14 ESV
But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.
Mark 10:15 ESV
Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.”
Mark 10:16 ESV
And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands on them.
One day some parents brought their children to Jesus so he could touch and bless them. But the disciples scolded the parents for bothering him.14When Jesus saw what was happening, he was angry with his disciples. He said to them,“Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children. 15I tell you the truth, anyone who doesn’t receive the Kingdom of God like a child will never enter it.” 16Then he took the children in his arms and placed his hands on their heads and blessed them.
Statement of Intent
Today were going to Bless Tau James Townsend
Here at Word of Life we dedicate our kids to God, instead of baptizing them.
We just believe that, it’s our duty to instruct you and charge you to raise your child in the things of God, and then once he is old enough to understand what he’s doing, then he can be baptized in the water.
Name Meaning
The name Tau is an African baby name. In African the meaning of the name Tau is Lion.
The lion is mentioned over 130 times in the Old Testament and less frequently in the New Testament, usually in a figurative sense.
The lion symbolizes, among other things, victory
The attributes of a Lion are brave, strong, and fierce
a brave, strong, or fierce person.
I pray that as Tau begins to grow up, that he will be all those things, not for himself but for the Lord.
Questioning of Parents:
Minister: Will you provide Tau with an opportunity to get to know God and to be raised in church as he grows up?
Parents: We will.
Minister: Will you do all you can to provide Tau a loving, committed, and supportive family?
Parents: We will.
Minister: Will you gradually and intentionally train Tau to make wise decisions according to his needs at each stage of childhood?
Parents: We will.
Introducing the Godparents
Father: Tyronne and Mother: Sway have also chosen God-Parents for Tau. And they are Godparents: Victoria Bordayo, Autrilla Sheba Gillis (who is in California) & Catherine Leigh (Lee) Jackson.
Tau’s Grandparents are also here Katherine Elizabeth Gillis & Stanley Gillis and honorary grandparents Carlos & Rosa Roman (Papi & Mama Roman).
Questioning the Godparents and The Church Family
Minister: Will you support these parents, without intruding, as they raise Tau in the things of God? If so, say, “We will.”
Congregation: We will.
Minister: Will you help this child grow and mature in these ways? If so, say, “We will.”

Charge
Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it.
Proverbs 22:6 ESV
Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.
So I challenge everybody here today parents and congregation, to love the little child(ren) as God does and to provide the very best atmosphere for spiritual and physical development.
With that, I remind you again that God has graciously given you this child.
He belongs to you, but in a greater way, he belongs to God.
He belongs to you, but in a greater way, he belongs to God. I remind you of the great responsibility that is placed on you because of the birth of this child. God has given you the task of caring for her physical needs of clothing, food, shelter, love, and discipline. Even more importantly, you are also charged with the responsibility of her spiritual needs. We are more than just physical; we are spiritual.

We here at Word of Life International stand with you to assist in every way we can, and properly teach this child to live life to the fullest.
It is God’s plan that the home and church unite forces to train this child, so that when he reaches the age of being accountable for his own actions, he will personally accept Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Then he will be ready for Christian baptism.
But Tyronne and Sway (Mother and Father), you are responsible to raise Tau not only be a child of knowledge and grace, but also a child of faith.
