Pastoral Prayer from
Let’s Pray
Our Father, we praise you as the Psalm says with a joyful shout to You, the Rock of our salvation.
What a thought the Psalmist gives, the joy of salvation, the love of thanksgiving, the singing of praise — all celebrating the greatness of Your glory.
May we never be like those in the wilderness who complained against You.
May we keep permanent joy, hope, and blessing.
Hold us by Your grace, that we may be counted faithful.
We long for that grace daily.
It was Your precious grace that saved us.
You are our highest joy.
We sing to You this morning because our hearts cannot contain the gladness of our salvation.
When we exalt You, we are lifted even higher.
You are our light, our salvation, our stronghold, our sanctuary in whom we find refuge and rest.
Refresh our souls today with the joy we can neither fathom or count.
Better than that, refresh our souls daily.
We want to bask in the fullness of Your joy.
We find our deepest delight in the light of Your glory.
We are prone to wander, easily tempted, weak, worldly, frail, rebellious by nature — so we do not always serve You as we should.
We thank You that You are faithful and just to forgive.
We are in desperate need of Your grace.
And so we are prompted from our hearts to run to Your embrace with glad surrender.
Help us, O Lord, that we may honestly examine ourselves and in that exercise may Your Holy Spirit testify with our spirit that we are Your children and You are our Father.
May our tears be true tears of repentance and may we be solidly grounded solely in Your Word.
May feel the firmness of Your grip on us as we rest in Your promise that no one or nothing could ever snatch us our of Your mighty hand.
We pray these things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen
