Opening

How much would a Father be willing to give his son?
BREATHE!
This is you on a Sunday..
Maybe you look like this on Mondays, Tuesdays....
And then you attend your Life Group, or your House Church on Wednesday nights, so you look like this on Thursdays..
Fridays comes and you thank God for it, but Saturdays you look like this again…
Fridays comes and you thank God for it, then Saturdays you look like this…
Why could it be that people barely make it through the week?
It is because of STRESS!
So many things to do
Too little time
Running out of energy
Exhausted
Sleepless nights
Same things over and over again
S
Stress can lead you to be Depressed…
Our thoughts and prayers goes to the families of Kate Spade (55) and Anthony Bourdain (61)
BREATHE!
Did you know that Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death here in America?
Heart Disease
Cancer
Chronic Respiratory Disease
Accidents
Stroke
Alzheimer’s Disease
Diabetes
Pneumonia
Kidney Disease
Suicide
Each year, around of 44, 965 Americans die by suicide
On average, that’s 123 suicides per day
The highest rates recorded for suicidal death is for people ranging from age 45 to 54
The white people are on top of the chart, next are the American Indians, while the Black people and Asian sits at the bottom of the graph
Montana is no. 1 among the states with most recorded suicidal deaths, while our State of California is at No. 45
The most common method is by using firearm, followed by suffocation and poisoning
How will you know if you’re stressed out?
When you see yourself in the mirror and who you see are Mr. & Mrs. Simpson
Turn to the person on your right and ask...
Are you Stressed?
BREATHE!
If their answer is yes, tell them not take a nap while I deliver my sermon today
To those of you who sleeps during sermon, today is not a good day to do that!
Because the Lord’s message today could spell the difference betwen a stressful and a fruitful life
It could define the remainder of your years, and the final outcome of your temporary life here on earth
What should you do when you’re Stressed out?
That is the question we’re trying to find the answers from the Bible today
BREATHE!
When we started our Series, “In My Father’s Arms” last Sunday, we saw how “God Has Accepted You”
We begun this series by looking into the life of the father from the parable of the Lord Jesus
From the story of the prodigal son, we saw the sequential steps that leads us to the “Road to Rejoice”
That first there shall be REMORSE. Then REPENTANCE, followed by REALIZATION
That after the prodigal son had gone through these stages, the Father RESTORED him and that brought them great reason to REJOICE
BREATHE!
Today, let us take a look into the life of another father who’s life was recorded in the Bible
Let’s take a look at the life of one of the most widely read character in the Bible…
Let’s revisit the life of David, the shepherd who conquered a giant, and eventually became the King of Israel, the people of God
David is not just a warrior and a king, he is also a father and a musician
David is the father of Solomon and also the father of Nathan, the father of Mattatha, who’s genealogy is traced down to Joseph the father of Jesus
BREATHE!
After David committed adultery with Bathsheba that led to his killing of Uriah, Nathan the prophet confronted him of what he had done
David was so guilty of the sins he had committed
With a broken fellowship with God, he was so STRESSED out!
Before his STRESS could lead him to be DEPRESSED, he wrote
Through this Psalm, David acknowledged his sins
And he asked God to purify his heart, and to restore the joy of his salvation
In Verse 12 he said...

Text: God Will Sustain You

Psalm 51:12 NIV
Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.
;
David asked God to restore the joy of his salvation
Just like the prodigal son, after his remorse, repentance and realization.. the Father restored him
David also asked God to grant him a willing spirit, to SUSTAIN him

God’s Grace Sustains

God is the Source of Sustaining Grace
Is the power to keep you going when you feel you feel like giving up
It’s the power to do the right thing when you don’t feel like doing the right thing
You can count on the Sustaining Grace of God
God doesn’t want just to save you, He wants to SUSTAIN you
Isaiah 46:4 NIV
Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.
It’s the power to do the right thing when you don’t feel like doing the right thing
You can count on the Sustaining Grace of God
Cast Your Cares on the Lord and He will Sustain You
Psalm 55:22 NIV
Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.
Reading His Word will Sustain You
jerem
Jeremiah 15:16 The Living Bible
Your words are what sustain me; they are food to my hungry soul. They bring joy to my sorrowing heart and delight me. How proud I am to bear your name, O Lord.
Stand Firm in His Sustaining Grace
What is Sustaining Grace
It’s the power to do the right thing when you don’t feel like doing the right thing
You can count on the Sustaining Grace of God
In Peter’s final greetings he said...
1 Peter 5:12 NLT
I have written and sent this short letter to you with the help of Silas, whom I commend to you as a faithful brother. My purpose in writing is to encourage you and assure you that what you are experiencing is truly part of God’s grace for you. Stand firm in this grace.
BREATHE!
I have tons of real life stories from my Uber driving
Stories about people complaining
People who barely just make it through the week
People who are tired
People who are in the brink of giving up
People who have So many things to do
with Too little time
Too little time
People who are Running out of energy
People who are Exhausted
Because of Sleepless nights
People who have to do Same things over & over again
for short, people who are STRESSED out!
Just last Thursday I drove for a girl named Robin
I picked her up from Lake Murray, and drove her all the way to Anaheim
I tried to create a conversation, but she’s with very little words
En route to her destination, she asked me to pull over a couple of times, she said she needs to go to the bathroom… it took her a long while, and when she returned, the smell of cannabis is prominent, so I have to crack my windows open
As we entered the compound of her destination, I pulled over and 3 people came to meet her, as I helped to hand over her belongings, I saw from their ID’s that it is a Rehab/Detox Facility.....
There are a lot of Robins out there
Robins that can end up like Kate Spade or Anthony Bourdain, or the 123 individuals that commits suicide everyday
Not needing to look far and beyond, perhaps there is a “Robin” inside of you
If you have a “Robin” in you, let me encourage you today to turn to the Father’s Arms
He is the source of Sustaining Grace
Cast your cares on the Lord
Read His Word regularly
And stand firm in His grace… and He will Sustain you
He is the Good Good Father
