The third Sunday in June is set aside to honor Fathers for their influence on society. Men we are kings for a day. Everyman wants to be king of his castle, master of his house, ruler of his rowdy bunch.
When I first began dating Mona, Roy, my future father-n-law, invited me into the living room. He looked me straight in the eye and “cat, let me show you something.” I said OK. He lead me across the room, pointe to a recliner and said, “This is the master’s chair. You can date my daughter, you can eat my food, you can sit wherever you want. But don’t sit in the master’s chair, and don’t forget whose the boss.
Men, we all want to rule the roost. Roy had his royal thorn. But I didn’t visit many times, before I opened the door and there she was; Clarice sitting in the master’s chair.
Fathers, today is our day. We are kings for a day. But tomorrow, things will return to the same old struggles for power. This power struggle for authority is not new. The attempt to usurp the rule of God is an age old problem. Satan tried to take God’s place on the the throne of creation, by force. Adam and Eve where deceived into believing, they could exercise God’s rule, without Him. The nations at the Towel of Babel thought they could united together and take the kingdom away form the king.
The truth is there is only one King and He exists in Three persons with one essence. He is the King of kings, The Lord of lords, He is the Almighty God and HIs Christ.
In God’s wisdom and plan of creation, He planned for us to be His vise-agents. A vise-agent is a representative of a controlling entity in a separate location.
A US company send a vise-agent to run their manufacturing plant, in another country. God Created Us to represent His heavenly interests on earth. In some ways we all try to usurp our rule above God’s reign.
Men we don’t like when we are not king of our castle. How does God resent not being King of His creation?
Men we will discover our rightful rule on earth, until we give God His rightful rule over our lives. Men, we will never receive the honor we think we deserve, until we honor God the Father with the respect He deserves. Women this goes also for you and your desire for honor and respect.
Revelation 11:15–19 gives us 3 ways to honor God the Father, so we receive the honor we desire.

Proclaim the Certainty of Christ’s Reign

Then the seventh angel sounded. This is not to be confused with the last trumpet of 1 Corinthians 15:52 and 1 Thessalonians 4:16. This trumpet is the trumpet of judge to be revealed in revelation 15. Chapters 4–11 detail Christ’s reclaiming what is rightfully His, by the seal and trumpet judgments, from God’s perspective (MacArthur, 309). Chapters 12–14 reveal the beginning of the end Satan’s last attempts usurp God’s Reign and rule. Satan denies GOd’s authority to the end.
The seventh trumpet also sets in motion the Day of the Lord Judgments in Rev. 16; Christ’s triumphant victory at Har-Mageddon in Revelation 19; which ushers in God’s final sweep cleaning up all rebellion in His kingdom. (explain the 7th seal is seven trumpets and that the 7th trumpet is seven bowls of GOd’s wrath).
The trumpet sounds and the voices in heaven proclaim the undeniable truth of Christ’s reign.
Application: This should be our prayer: Your Kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven.
The proleptic aorist speaks of future event that is so certain that is is described in the past tense.
Remember the time when we looked forward to receiving our tax refund. We planned how we will spend our tax refund, as if we had already had received it.
How about Christmas we talked about our wish list. as if we already had use of the items on the list. I asked for a go-cart one year, with such certainty, that I saved up for a helmet. In Kentucky, when little Brandon received socks in his hope box, he was so certain that he would get boots that he talked as if he already had them.
The universal and complete reign was Christ is so certain, we should talk about like it already has happened.
Verses 16–18 reveal two opposing actions and attitudes to the certainty of Christ’s reign. The saints will give thanks and the nations will reveal their anger.
The rest of verse 18 reveals God’s actions and attitude in response to the certainty of His reign and rule.

Proclaim the Certainty of God’s Judgment

God’s judgment is two-fold: wrath upon those enraged at God’s will, and reward for those who honor God.
Application: Economic prosperity and security will never provide enteral peace. Satan can give you money, but He can never give you happiness.
When we recognize the rewards of honoring God with our actions and attitudes, we willingly proclaim the certainty of His promised presence among His people.

Proclaim the Certainty of God’s Presence

Hebrews 9:4 NASB95
having a golden altar of incense and the ark of the covenant covered on all sides with gold, in which was a golden jar holding the manna, and Aaron’s rod which budded, and the tables of the covenant;
The covenant and the items inside symbolizes that God will supply all HIs people with their needs, that God will exercise His rule over His creation and His people, and that He has given us His law and made an eternal saving covenant with all who believe in the Life, death, resurrection, ascension, return, and eternal reign of Christ Jesus.
2 Corinthians 6:16–18 NASB95
Or what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; just as God said, “I will dwell in them and walk among them; And I will be their God, and they shall be My people. “Therefore, come out from their midst and be separate,” says the Lord. And do not touch what is unclean; And I will welcome you. “And I will be a father to you, And you shall be sons and daughters to Me,” Says the Lord Almighty.
The ark reveals God’s faithful covenant promise of grace and mercy found only in His presence. To know, love, and accept Jesus’ finished work on the cross, is receive his grace and mercy.
To reject the saving work of Jesus is to receive wrath.
The Rumble of thunder and the load crack of thunder that follows flashes of lights announces the hailstorm of judgment coming to all who reject and disrespect the Almighty God of the universe and HIs anointed King.
Is almighty God your Father, or is He your enemy? That such be the most important message on any Father’s day card.
Because of the redemptive work of the Lamb, access to the ark of the covenant is no longer restricted only to the high priest. As a kingdom of priests redeemed by the Lord (5: 9–10), all believers enjoy the fullness of God’s presence and covenant promises (Duvall, Revelation, 156).
Application: Share the eternal joys of entering into the presence of God.
