The purpose of the author of Hebrews for including this in here is to show these believers who are facing trials that faith can overcome any obstacle, and barrier, and problem, and any circumstance even when that circumstance seems contrary to the promises of God. Faith does obtain a blessing if not in this life then in eternity, and it does do by looking to God not the circumstance. So often we get so wrapped up in our circumstance, and we forget that God is more significant than our problem or our circumstance and the more we trust in God, the more we use our faith, the stronger it will grow. But we must understand that God will test us to grow us.
