In the writer is one of the son’s Korah
The ancestors of Korah come from the tribe of Levi.
There family positioning was closest to the priesthood
Intresting enough the
The rebellion led by Korah, Dathan, and Abiram against Moses and Aaron ended with the death of many members of the Korahite family (Nm 16:31–35).
Only those who did not participate survived (Nm 26:11).
They settled around Hebron in the levitical cities
They were knows as temple singers.
King David put them in charge of the song service after the Ark was brought to Jerusalem.
They were all gatekeepers which you know is a major job of gurading who comes in and what they come in for
Know understanding there back ground let me read our text again.
Ps 42
when you think of there ansestors and all they were apart of, and we read “my tears have been my food” “how i used to go to the hourse of God with SHOUTS of praise”
YOu get the sense the the writer is pleading to come back to center
Worship has away of realigning us with God
When we praise, when we worship, we begin to realize how big God is and how small we are
IT makes us want a big God in our lives.
The psalmist compares his longing for God to the longing of a deer for water.
Water sustains life just as God sustains our source in our spiritual life.
Lets identify what praise is
Praise is to be ascribed to Him, in respecrt of his Glory
A sacrifice of praise is the praise we give God from devotion no matter how we feel.
Praise is a conscience choice
Praise turns the focus from us to God.
If problems rob your praise, then you are focused on events instead of trusting God.
