Celebrated-Gods works and presence are to be celebrated by His people.
Celebrated-Gods works and presence are to be celebrated by His people.
9 And David lived in the stronghold and called it the city of David. And David built the city all around from the Millo inward. 10 And David became greater and greater, for the Lord, the God of hosts, was with him.
11 And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, also carpenters and masons who built David a house. 12 And David knew that the Lord had established him king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for the sake of his people Israel.
Look at verse 10. “and David became greater and greater, for the Lord, The God of hosts, was with him.
This verse in Hebrew literally says “David went going and growing” .......What does this mean?

Is our attitude “Lord, let that be me. Help me to keep going for you and growing in you.
Going and growing go hand in hand. David went on growing. His activities were not fruitless. There are alot of people who are going but with very little growing. There must not be just signs of activity but actual improvement and development. (What happened to the man who buried his treasure?) What are we doing with God has given us?
In vs 12 it says that David knew that the Lord had established him king over Isreal, and that he had exalted his kingdom for the sake of his people Israel. Have you ever thought about how God is using your life for His good....maybe for the current generations or future generations. Isnt it humbling to think that God uses us?! What are some ways that God is using you for His Glory. What a testimony!!!
12 And it was told King David, “The Lord has blessed the household of Obed-edom and all that belongs to him, because of the ark of God.” So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-edom to the city of David with rejoicing. 13 And when those who bore the ark of the Lord had gone six steps, he sacrificed an ox and a fattened animal. 14 And David danced before the Lord with all his might. And David was wearing a linen ephod. 15 So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the Lord with shouting and with the sound of the horn. 16 As the ark of the Lord came into the city of David, Michal the daughter of Saul looked out of the window and saw King David leaping and dancing before the Lord, and she despised him in her heart.
David and Michal16 As the ark of the Lord came into the city of David, Michal the daughter of Saul looked out of the window and saw King David leaping and dancing before the Lord, and she despised him in her heart.

So the ark was taken away from the Isrealites years back in a battle against the Philistines. Lets take a look at why this could have happened. The elders of Isreal thought that the ark would help them win the war. They were being casual with Christ. The ark ended up in the hands of the Philistines due to them defeating the Isrealites.
()Years later, David goes to retrieve the ark of the covenant from the home of abinadab but he does not take it very serious. The oxen stumbles, Uzzah dies after he tries to steady the ark. We may think that this is a little harsh..... Why did this happen? David was to casual about God. God had given them specific instructions on how to handle the ark but they did not heed the instructions.
After this happened, David became angry with God. How could David be angry with God? Had God not given him the process of handling the ark? Had God not established him king over Isreal? Why is he angry? He had the wrong view of God to begin with.
After this happened, David became angry with God. How could David be angry with God? He had the wrong view of God to begin with.
Why did David go get the Ark from Obed-edom. He heard that the house of Obed-edom was being blessed because of the ark and he wanted that same blessing for the whole nation. This time around, David had a respect for God unlike the first time.
Isnt it interesting that Uzzah was struck dead and the house of Obed-edom was blessed: both by the same thing. The ark of the covenant.
Now lets take a look at how differently things happen in vs.12-16.
David went and brought the ark back to The city of David (Jerusalem, the capitol of Isreal.) He came back rejoicing, He stopped and made sacrifices, he danced and made music with horns. ****How things change when Christ is honored in our lives****
Read vs. 16
Michal was upset with David for dancing and shouting.... Why? David was the King of Isreal and Michal thought that it was out of place for him to be acting like this? What are your thoughts? Should David have been dancing and shouting? Absolutely!! He was worshipping His Lord.
Michal was focused on the worldly status and David couldnt care less. He was caught up in worshipping God. Do we allow others to dictate our worship to Christ? Our status in this world takes no precedent on our worship to Christ. If anything the earthly status that Christ has promoted us to should give us all the more reason to worship Him.
Michal was focused on the worldly realm and David was focused on the spiritual realm.
-Are we going AND growing daily for Christ? Where is proof of development in our lives?
-Think about how Christ is using your life for His bigger plan and Thank Him for that.
-Are we allowing others to affect our worship to Christ.
If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. 3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
