The Right Words

have you ever seen someone make a point by coming up with just the right words at the right moment. it is so amazing to watch.
Story of kids in back of car>>>>
Jodi - when I grow up i’m going to be a jet pilot
jeff - there is no way you can
Jodi- Why not?
Jeff - because jet pilots are all men and your a girl
Jodi - Jeff your a male chauvinistic piglet!!
I think we can all say that at some given point in time we have all been able to come up with the right words for a given point in time. the right words for an occasion or the right situation.
while we can bask in the glory of having the right words, I think we can all tell a story or two about when we have been at a loss for words, when we have been reduced to silence, embarrassed and shameful. a hang your head moment.
I can remember once asking a woman when her baby was due and she told me that she was not pregnant.

for the most part we are pretty eloquent with our words and speak well and in a timely manner.
where we drop the ball is in our actions.
no or very little follow-through
We talk too much and do to little
we verbalize well and actualize poorly
We speak eloquently and perform inadequately.
We spout of high sounding words and put off acting until tomorrow
ONLY WHEN OUR WORDS ARE TRANSLATED INTO ACTION ARE THEY AUTHENTICATED.
WE SEE THIS IN , JESUS I IS NOT AFRAID TO DEAL WITH THE DIFFICULT THINGS AND TO CALL THEM OUT ON THEIR LACK OF FOLLOW THROUGH.
Matthew 23:23–28 NIV
“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former. You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel. “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean. “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean. In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.
Matthew
SO BUSY ON THE SMALL DETAILS THAT THEY NEGLECTED THE IMPORTANT MATTERS.
IT IS IMPORTANT FOR US TO DO BOTH NOT JUST ONE.
Leviticus 27:30 NIV
“ ‘A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the Lord; it is holy to the Lord.
NOWHERE IS THIS MORE TRUE THAN WITH MATTERS OF FAITH
ITS NOT ENOUGH TO JUST HEAR IT PREACHED FROM OUR PULPITS
OR SING ABOUT IT
OR LEARN IT IN BIBLE STUDY AND SUNDAY SCHOOL
FAITH IS A LIFE-STYLE AND WAY OF LIVING!
PAUL APTLY WROTE THESE WORDS:
Philippians 1:27 NIV
Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in the one Spirit, striving together as one for the faith of the gospel
Conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ.

being a Christian is not just a list of
rules
theological beliefs
philosophical arguments
IT IS A WAY OF LIFE!!
CHRISTIANITY IS NOT JUST A WAY OF BELIEVING IT IS ALSO A WAY OF BEHAVING.
IT IS NOT SOMETHING WE PROCLAIM JUST HERE.
IT IS WHO WE ARE NO MATTER WHERE WE GO AND WHAT WE DO.
A LOT OF PEOPLE THINK THAT CHRISTIANS ARE WACKY - MAYBE SO BUT WE ARE A GOOD WHACKY BECAUSE WE CARE AND GO THE EXTRA MILE.
only when our creeds become deeds do they become compelling
when words and beliefs are translated into actions do they really take hold of our lives.
John Mott decided to really discover the power of prayer
he attended lectures and read the scriptures as well as everything he got his hands on about prayer - BUT CAME UP EMPTY.
IT WAS NOT UNTIL HE STARTED TO PRAY HIMSELF THAT HE DISCOVERED THE POWER OF PRAYER.
WE CAN STUDY THE SCRIPTURES AND DOCTRINES BOTH WHICH ARE IMPORTANT AND SHOULD BE DONE.
IT IS NOT UNTIL OUR FAITH IS TRANSLATED INTO ACTION, WHEN THEY TAKE ROOT INTO OUR DAILY LIVING, THEN IT IS WORTH ITS SALT.
THAT IS WHEN IT IS COMPELLING
Teacher that went to visit the young boy who was badly burnt.
Only when our creeds become deeds do they become contagious
DOCTRINES CREEDS, IDEAS AND BELIEFS NO MATTER HOW TRUE OR ELOQUENT OR WELL DELIVERED CARRY VERY LITTLE CONVICTION IN THEMSELVES.
IT IS WHEN THEY WALK BEFORE US IN FLESH AND BLOOD THAT THEY BECOME CONTAGIOUS.
Story of the soldier who killed the brother of the nurse that he now found himself in front of.
WHEN HE ASKED WHY - HER RESPONSE WAS - BECAUSE I SERVE HIM WHO SAID LOVE YOUR ENEMIES AND DO THEM GOOD.
AFTER A FEW MOMENTS HE LOOKED UP AT HER AND SAID: “ TELL ME MORE OF YOUR LORD, I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE FAITH LIKE THIS.”
Only when our creeds become deeds do they become COMPELLING AND contagious
Only when our creeds become deeds do they become convincing
Teacher that went to visit the young boy who was badly burnt.
Teacher that went to visit the young boy who was badly burnt.
THERE WAS A YOUNG BOY WHO HAD BEEN BADLY BURNT IN A HOUSE FIRE AND THE TEACHER AT SCHOOL WAS WORRIED THAT WHEN HE CAME BACK TO SCHOOL HE WOULD BE FAR BEHIND THE OTHER CHILDREN, SO SHE SENT ONE OF HER TEACHERS TO THE HOSPITAL TO TEACH HIM ABOUT THE IRREGULAR VEBS AND DANGLING PARTICIPLES TO BRING HIM UP TO THE SAME LEVEL AS THE REST OF THE CLASS.
THERE WAS LITTLE TO NO RESPONSE AND THE NEXT DAY SHE RETURNED - TO HER SURPRISE THE NURSES WERE AMAZED AT HIS PROGRESS, HE WAS SITTING UP AND RESPONDING TO THE TREATMENT AND IN NO TIME WAS DISCHARGED.
IT WAS NOT UNTI LATER THAT THE TEACHER FOUND OUT THE BOY WAS GIVING UP ON LIFE AND HAD NO WILL TO LIVE. EVEN THOUGH THE NURSES AND DOCTORS HAD TOLD HIM HE WOULD LIVE. THE GAME CHANGER FOR HIM WAS THE FACT THAT THE TEACHER CMAE TO HELP HIM WITH HOMEWORK, HE SAID HE FIGURED THAT IF HE WAS NOT GOING TO LIVE THE SCHOOL WOULD NOT HAVE SENT HIM A TEACHER TO GIVE HIM LESSONS ON IRREGULAR VERBS AND DANGLING PARTICIPLES.
THE ACTION OF THE TEACHER MADE ALL THE DIFFERENCE
ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS.
ACTIONS ARE MORE COMPELLING
MORE CONTAGIOUS
MORE CONVINCING
THERE IS A POEM WRITTEN BY AN UNKNOWN POET THAT FRAMES THIS PERFECTLY:
WE ARE WRITING A GOSPEL A CHAPTER EACH DAY
BY DEEDS THAT WE DO AND WORDS THAT WE SAY;
PEOPLE READ WHAT WE WRITE, WHETHER FAITHLESS OR TRUE...
SO WHAT IS THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO YOU?
Only when our creeds become deeds do they become COMPELLING ,CONTAGIOUS AND CONVINCING
isaiah 58:
Isaiah 58:6 NIV
“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?
Only when our creeds become deeds do they become
isaiah 58:
Isaiah 58:7–10 NIV
Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter— when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard. Then you will call, and the Lord will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I. “If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger and malicious talk, and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday.
