Be a Man
How do you know when someone becomes a man?
Is it just an age thing?
“well you made it this far without your parents killing you, therefore you may now receive the title of Man”
Ladies what kind of guy do you want?
Verse 1 builds
It starts with walking with them, then standing with them, and finally finding a place at their table sitting with them
to sit with them means you have become on of them
you are now wicked, a sinner and a mocker
there is no blessing
Why are most people mean?
they have no happiness
they have no joy
they try to make others feel their pain and emptiness
The man who delights in the Lord’s instruction is happy
God’s instruction is contradictory to the wicked, the sinners, and the mockers.
To be a man who is ready for a relationship, you must delight in the Lord’s instruction and meditate on it
To delight is to take pleasure-
someone who desires the things of God
To meditate-
ponder, give serious thought and consideration to selected information
To be a man that God prospers is to look at what God says in His word (instruction) and apply it to your life
For marriage it is looking at God’s word and saying “can I live this out?”
and if not then it is changing what needs to be changed in order to
Eph 5:
Can I love so selflessly?
Can I put someone above myself?
Can I love her to the point of laying down my own life for her?
Can I protect and provide for her?
If the answer is no then you aren’t ready to even consider dating
cause dating is the first step to marriage.
thats the goal of biblical dating
Proverbs
You girls look at who he hangs with
if they are fools, gross, jerks-
That is his counsel- those are the ones he is walking, standing, and sitting with.
Verses 3-4 Give contrast to the two- The righteous and the wicked
to the ones who follow God’s instructions and those who follow everyone else
Verse 3- The righteous Prosper in everything they do, because they follow God
they do it God’s way
they are pursuing God and therefore God blesses it
Proverbs
He is doing it God’s way- he is pursuing he things of God
He isn’t into just following everyone else
His greatest motivation is God And because of that He can love His wife the Christ demonstrates.
And because of that He can love His wife the Christ demonstrates.
Verse 4- the wicked aren’t like this- what they do will blow away
like a dandelion when you blow on it and it just goes with the wind
The is the way of the wicked- their relationships, theirs actions, their marriages.
They all crumble away!
Marriage and divorce are both common experiences.
In Western cultures, more than 90 percent of people marry by age 50.
Healthy marriages are good for couples’ mental and physical health.
They are also good for children; growing up in a happy home protects children from mental, physical, educational and social problems.
However, about 40 to 50 percent of married couples in the United States divorce
Jesus says
It is similar to : When we follow God’s instruction it works and we are blessed and happy
When I love my wife this way- she is fulfilled and happy-
I satisfy her longing for love and fulfill her
When I don’t I hurt her, she is left wanting, and I fail her and God
Eventually it will crumble and blow away with the wind.
