1 Chronicles 28:9–10 ESV
“And you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father and serve him with a whole heart and with a willing mind, for the Lord searches all hearts and understands every plan and thought. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will cast you off forever. Be careful now, for the Lord has chosen you to build a house for the sanctuary; be strong and do it.”
Satan’s whispered lies: “You don’t really think God is personally interested in you, do you? He’s really busy and far away. More important things. Bigger things. Do you really think he’ll come through for you?”
Elam - Marshmallow Assurance - “Dad will bring some home.” This is a quiet confidence that a Father will come through. We can have that with our heavenly father.
I want to take you to...
Ephesians 3:20 ESV
Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us,
At the end of King David’s life he calls together all the leading men of Israel and reviews the covenant God has made with him, then he hands over detailed, written plans for the temple to Solomon and publicly identifies him as his successor. Along with these specific challenges and expectations:
Elam - Marshmallow Assurance - “Dad will bring some home.”

David gives specific instructions of God’s plan for the temple...
1 Chronicles 28:20 ESV
Then David said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and courageous and do it. Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed, for the Lord God, even my God, is with you. He will not leave you or forsake you, until all the work for the service of the house of the Lord is finished.
1 Chronicles 28:20–21 ESV
Then David said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and courageous and do it. Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed, for the Lord God, even my God, is with you. He will not leave you or forsake you, until all the work for the service of the house of the Lord is finished. And behold the divisions of the priests and the Levites for all the service of the house of God; and with you in all the work will be every willing man who has skill for any kind of service; also the officers and all the people will be wholly at your command.”
1 Chronicles 28:

1 Chronicles 28:19–21 ESV
“All this he made clear to me in writing from the hand of the Lord, all the work to be done according to the plan.” Then David said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and courageous and do it.
David’s message to Solomon did not stress the privileges of being chosen as king but emphasized the responsibilities of assuming the throne.
Primary obligation: Seek the Lord to worship and serve him.
The Lord also required unflinching resolve to build the temple sanctuary.
Hebrews 4:16 ESV
Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Hebrews 14:6
Hebrews 4:16 NLT
So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.
