Servants in the Kingdom respond to the call Jesus makes to follow Him. They become His disciples in a relationship marked by delight and duty. When Jesus calls people to “come and see” they receive grace enough to be humble and submit. Their calling shapes their whole lives and offers a reference point that provides meaning and purpose for living. Without it they are lost and subject to the pressures of this world. But with it they are focused on a relationship with God that keeps Jesus at the centre of their lives. Disciples begin to function the way they were created to be. They find great delight in loving and obeying God – challenging as that is, it offers the only true, lasting joy.
