We finish our series on the 7 Deadly Sins by looking at the deepest, most dangerous one of them all: Pride. The sinful attitude that ignites all other sins. The sinful nature that corrupts our relationship with God and others. The sinful perspective that prevents us from enjoying the creaturely worship of our good Creator. Hence the well-known proverb: “Pride comes before destruction; an arrogant spirit before a fall.” (Pr 16:18) The more we talk about pride and learn about pride and dwell on pride, the better. Because pride is always lurking beneath the surface of our lives and we are often blind to it. Shining a light on pride, like the broader topic of sin itself, helps us to identify it, deal with it, flee it, and let grace change it into humility.
