BRIDGING THE GAP

One night a little boy was heard praying, .....
“Oh, by the way Jesus, take care of yourself.... if something were to happen to you we’d all be in a mess!”
Yes we would all be in a mess! For it is God Almighty choosing to interface with us through prayer and intercesion that offers us hope in this desperate hour. And because intermate intercession is the answer, why is so little of it being done? What is prayer and does it make a difference?

GOING BETWEEN

Webster’s Dictionairy
Prayer: “the act of asking for a favor with earnestness.”
Intercession: is derived from the Latin word inter, meaning “between” and cedere meaning “to go”
Prayer can mean to talk, to commune, to fellowship, supplication etc...
Intercession means coming to God on behalf of another
Intercession invloves the whole spirit, soul and body.
To prepare we must:
Desire to work toward a disciplined life;
Pursue a regular prayer time;
Maintain a clear conscience;
Be willing to obey instantly.
Col 1:3
Colossians 1:3 AV
We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,
Cold 1:9
Colossians 1:9 AV
For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
Colossians 1:29 AV
Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.
Colossians 1:29 ESV
For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me.
labor = kopiao = to toil, to become weary or fatigued
Struggling = agonizomai = to agonize, to fight or to contend against
Intercession can literally order or change the course of a nation, a city, a family or a church. It is nether “emotional hype” rituals, prayer lists, nor obligations. It is a Spirit-led privelege. Magnificent revelations have come because of prayer and intercession. These revelations are the result of close fellowship with God.
GOD SPEAKS TO AND THROUGH INTERCESSORS
Revelation - not on the order of scripture but a broader more general sense....
mat 11:
Matthew 11:27 AV
All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.
Romans 1:18 AV
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
1 cor 14:
1 Corinthians 14:30 AV
If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace.
Ephesians 1:17 AV
That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
Phil 3:
Philippians 3:15 AV
Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.
Revelation can come from three sources:
The Holy Ghost
The enemy
Our soul
Never assume your right about everything you hear. God gives us revelation to feed our prayers, not our egos!
Even the apostle Paul said, “
1 Corinthians 13:12 AV
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
1 Corinthians 13:9 AV
For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
It’s not a spiritual badge - It’s a sacred honor that places us in a position of greater responsibility to pray for others and greater acccountability to God
We have to learn to be trustworthy of the information that God shares with us.
Most of the revelation they receive never leaves the prayer closet
They must depend on the Spirit to for discernment for how much to share:
When is it right to reveal revelation?
Basic guidliens:
Words of encouragement, - we have a GREEN LIGHT
Words of warning - a YELLOW LIGHT - Cautiously
Words of judgement - RED LIGHT - Stop, Deliver them obediently, only by God’s dirction
Proverbs 11:14 AV
Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.
1 Corinthians 14:32 AV
And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.
James 2:13 AV
For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment.
James
James 2:13 NKJV
For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.

Penetrating the Pit With Prayer

Mercy is at the heart of all God does! We are most like God when we are merciful.
Intercession is the act of standing in the gap between the need we see and the provision of God that we long to see.
Moses interceded for the nation of Israel ( and )
Nehemiah was ordained by God to intercede, then unite the people and rebuild the wall in Jerusalem.
Anna “served God with fastings and prayers night and day” ()
Luke 2:37 AV
And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.
Luke 2:38 AV
And she coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord, and spake of him to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem.
Job 33:
Job 33:19–30 AV
19 He is chastened also with pain upon his bed, and the multitude of his bones with strong pain: 20 So that his life abhorreth bread, and his soul dainty meat. 21 His flesh is consumed away, that it cannot be seen; and his bones that were not seen stick out. 22 Yea, his soul draweth near unto the grave, and his life to the destroyers. 23 If there be a messenger with him, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to shew unto man his uprightness: 24 Then he is gracious unto him, and saith, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom. 25 His flesh shall be fresher than a child’s: he shall return to the days of his youth: 26 He shall pray unto God, and he will be favourable unto him: and he shall see his face with joy: for he will render unto man his righteousness. 27 He looketh upon men, and if any say, I have sinned, and perverted that which was right, and it profited me not; 28 He will deliver his soul from going into the pit, and his life shall see the light. 29 Lo, all these things worketh God oftentimes with man, 30 To bring back his soul from the pit, to be enlightened with the light of the living.

TOUCHED BY THE CRIES OF HIS CHILDREN

2 Peter 3:9 AV
9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
This is not to say that our prayers can usurp the free will of another person; instead our prayers can be used to till the spiritual soil so when the seed of God’s Word is sown in the unbelievers life, it will have a greater chance of taking root.
History records that Frederick the Great wrote to one of his generals, “I send you with 60,000 men against the enemy.” Upon numbering the troops, however, it was found that there were only 50,000. The general expressed surprise that such a mistake on the part of his King. Fredericks reply was, “I counted on you for 10,000 men?”
God is counting on us!

INTERCEPTING AND INTERCHANGING THE ENEMY’S PLANS

Suppose you know a person whose life is being destroyed by sin. You know that this is not God’s plan for the person, but what do you do with this information?

1. Accept the Burden From the Lord

He will never force you to bear a burden unwillingly!
He does however sometimes offend your mind in order to change your heart.
He has chose to partner with us. but if we will not participate...
Isaiah 59:16 AV
16 And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him.
d. God prompts (Triggers)
e. Deep overwhelming desire to weep
Romans 8:26 AV
26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
6
6
pay attention to these triggers
Be like Samuel and say “Speak Lord, for your servent is listning”

2. Identify with God’s Desire to Intervene

Exercising priestly authority, ask the Lord to intercept or stop the devil’s plan to Kill, steal and destroyu”
Cry out to God for mercy....

3. Intercede by Faith for Breakthrough

Make sure your praying through instead of through praying....
The LOrd is looking for perserverence!
PUSH
Once a breakthrough comes - STOP PRAYING!
To press further can lead to unbelief!
I invision an army of intercessors!

4. I am my brother’s keeper

5. Be faithful in small things
