Be Strong in The Lord!

Ephesians 6:10–11 KJV 1900
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
eph 6.10.11
We are in a battle ......
sin
discouragement
lazineness
selfcenternedness
The world , the flesh and the devil
The world , the flesh and the devil
To say the rules of darkness world is ridiculed by the non-Christian.
To say the rules of darkness world is ridiculed by the non-Christian.
you have to be kidding
But for the Christian the words are helpful and encouraging.
This passage has much significance
No long ago a mans home was isolated and cut off from the rest of the world.

Ephesians 6:11 KJV 1900
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
We must understand and confront the problem
We are called to battle - not a life of ease
We are to wrestle , struggle
We are forewarned as to the character OF THE enemy
No one is sufficient for these things ----- the battle is the Lords.
1st - we must understand we are in a battle
2nd - we must engage and fight the battle God’s Way - key
look at
Ephesians 6:11 KJV 1900
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
We must find two things:
vs 10 - “be strong in the Lord”
vs 11 - Put on the whole armour of God”
We are not to take one without the other
In the correct order.
In the correct order.
1st - just turn it over to God - never putting on the armour (let go and let God)
2nd - Put on the armour - as they could yield it themselves . They forget we are dependent on His strength.

I Be Strong in the Lord, and the Power of His Might”

Ephesians 6:10 KJV 1900
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
We are not to just repeat this phrase over and over like some chant.
How do we apply it?
a) Know the Power of the Enemy
2 Corinthians 11:14 KJV 1900
14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
2 cor 11.14
Ephesians 6:13 KJV 1900
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
The truth still stands
eph 6.1
We should be strong in the Lord
b) To avoid personal failure!
To fail and to fall into sin makes me and all around me unhappy!
We should be strong in the Lord
c) Because of what we are !
We belong to God!
Hebrews 2:11 KJV 1900
11 For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,
No better way to give proof of the gospel than prevailing!
When we see someone lives the Christian life, stand against sin, evil worldliness, the popular culture it encourages us!
Loose weight encourage others to loose weight
We are being watched!
What a reason to be strong!
They will turn to us
This could be the great awakening in our town.
You don't have to talk
Just stand while other are falling!

II We Must realize our Weakness and Need of Help

Psalm 34:18–20 KJV 1900
18 The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; And saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. 19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: But the Lord delivereth him out of them all. 20 He keepeth all his bones: Not one of them is broken.
We realize our weakness
We realize our weakness
We realize our enemies power
Even the perfect man fell
Look at the OT saints - Noah, Samuel, David, Hezekiah etc...
Are you better than they?
The man that gives the impression that Christianity is easy has confused Christianity with something else! (hell’s best kept secrete)
We do not teach and should not preach salvation for life enhancement!
The Problem with the Modern Gospel
The trouble with people who are not seeking for a Savior, and for
salvation, is that they do not understand the nature of sin. It is the
peculiar function of the Law to bring such an understanding to a
man’s mind and conscience
Half of the Battle:
Half of the Battle:
The enemy is strong I am weak
To be strong in the Lord is to realize our need!
Luke 5:31 KJV 1900
31 And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick.
Our best is totally inadequate!
eph 6.
Our best is totally inadequate!
We need Christ for salvation and sanctification!

III The Lord is Strong and Mighty!

Ephesians 6:10 KJV 1900
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
What does it mean the power of Hid might?
might - processing strength
power - means showing strength
We should look at HIM
We have been looking at the enemy and seen his strength
We have looked at ourselves and seen our weakness
How
know and meditate on scripture
Philippians 4:8–9 KJV 1900
8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. 9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.
We see his power - in 40 days in the desert, miracles, casting out devils etc...
Hebrews 13:5–6 KJV 1900
5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. 6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
2 Corinthians 12:9 KJV 1900
9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
Christ overcame the devil Himself and destroyed death ...
heb 2
Hebrews 2:14 KJV 1900
14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
1 Corinthians 15:54–56 KJV 1900
54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. 55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? 56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
1 Cor 15.
How do we access this?
James 4:6–7 KJV 1900
6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. 7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
In his dwelleth the fullness of the Godhead; he can not fail....
he proved His powers on the cross
The message is not some physical formula
You must know him
You must know his power until you know him
When we look at the armour it is directed to knowing him.
You cant use the armour unless you know Him ......
