Who is my neighbor?

Luke 10:25-
Luke 10:25–37 NKJV
And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested Him, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” He said to him, “What is written in the law? What is your reading of it? So he answered and said, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ‘your neighbor as yourself.’ ” And He said to him, “You have answered rightly; do this and you will live.” But he, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” Then Jesus answered and said: “A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. Now by chance a certain priest came down that road. And when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. Likewise a Levite, when he arrived at the place, came and looked, and passed by on the other side. But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion. So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, ‘Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I come again, I will repay you.’ So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?” And he said, “He who showed mercy on him.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.”
Matthew 11:28–30 NKJV
Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
The Lawyer’s question. What shall I do to inherit the kingdom of God?
Jesus asks the lawyer what the bible said.
The answer was, to love God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, with all your mind and your neighbor as yourself.
Jesus said do this and you shall live!
Serving God and others will lead to Life!
The second question was, “who is my neighbor?”
who is worthy of my love? whom shall I love?
A man went down… from Jerusalem Fell among thieves - they stripped him of his clothing, wounded him and left him for dead!
The priest came down that same road, probably from serving in Jerusalem
couldn’t be bothered
The levite also coming down from Jerusalem, probably serving the with the priest in the temple.
followed the priests example
Now a foreigner who was a samaritan, was moved with compassion.
His compassion turned into action.
He went to the man and bandaged his wounds
poured oil and wine, put the man on his animal. took him to an inn and took care of him
The next day he paid the innkeeper for the mans stay for 2-4 weeks until he recovered and if there was any extra cost he would cover on his way back.
The servant has a heritage!
Isaiah 54:17 NKJV
No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the Lord.
Isaiah 54:17
Isaiah 54:17 NKJV
No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the Lord.

Jesus is our Good Samaritan

Romans 6:21–22 NKJV
What fruit did you have then in the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life.
Jesus rescued us in our time of need!
He is present today to meet our needs.
Isaiah 53:4–6 NKJV
Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.
