A physician does not sew your cells back together, he can only promote healing by reducing the inflammation or encouraging the body’s own sources of defense and replenishment, sometimes by challenging them, as in inoculation.  I try to conceive my role similarly, as one whose presence can promote healing, not as one who heals.
