22 / TRIUMPHING OVER SATAN
Text: “For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil” ().

I. Don’t Be Tricked by Satan

“The serpent beguiled Eve through his subtility …” ().

A. Many people are tricked by Satan. He is sly, deceiving, and convincing; making wrong seem right, and right seem wrong.

B. We must be watchful and prayerful. Reading God’s Word daily keeps us aware of Satan’s devices.

C. By looking to Jesus, shunning the wrong and doing the right, we can avoid being tricked by Satan ().

II. Don’t Be Tripped by Satan

“For Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light” ().

A. Millions are tripped by Satan. He deceives through lust, illicit sex, the love of money, and the desire for fame and popularity.

B. God’s Word teaches that adultery (), fornication (), and sexual perversion are sins (). The love of money is the root of all evil ().

C. We must stay away from Satan’s territory. If we “resist the devil,” he will flee from us ().

III. Don’t Be Trampled by Satan

“Satan … smote Job with sore boils …” ().

A. Many succumb to defeat when tempted and tested. They lack faith, courage, and determination.

B. Satan wants to destroy God’s people. He tried to destroy Job through his suffering and sorrow.

C. We must be bold and persistent. With Job we can declare, “I know that my redeemer liveth” (). We can conquer through Him ().

IV. Don’t Be Trapped by Satan

“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life …” ().

A. Many are trapped by Satan. They are bound by sin and are powerless to free themselves. They are doomed, for the wages of sin is death.

B. The gift of God can change their status. If the sinner will repent of his sins and believe, he can receive forgiveness and cleansing.

C. When we surrender all to God, we triumph over Satan and have eternal life ().
