The wisdom of God

1 Corinthians 2:10–14 ESV

these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God. And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual. The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.

2 Corinthians 2:10–14 ESV

Anyone whom you forgive, I also forgive. Indeed, what I have forgiven, if I have forgiven anything, has been for your sake in the presence of Christ, so that we would not be outwitted by Satan; for we are not ignorant of his designs. When I came to Troas to preach the gospel of Christ, even though a door was opened for me in the Lord, my spirit was not at rest because I did not find my brother Titus there. So I took leave of them and went on to Macedonia. But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere.

The word of God and the wisdom of God is spiritually discerned.

The Disciples did not understand the parable spoken by Jesus. We he was alone with them he used the opportunity to explain this important point

Verse 11 says to you the secrets of the kingdom of God have been given, but to those on the outside everything is in parables- the word secrete here is the only place its found in the gospels, and which are parallel passages, its also found 21 times in paul’s letters and 4 times in Revelation

All of this must be understood in the context of unbelief and hostility

The leaders of the jews accused him of demonic possession and his family accused him of being out of his mind.

The large crowds also were not seeking the truth, the audiences were not denied the opportunity to believe in him, but after they persistently closed their minds to his message they were excluded from further understanding

One of the purposes of a parable is to reveal truth but also conceals truth to those who are indifferent or profane

Many People give one of three negative responses to Jesus Message,

The seed is the word of God () Humbly accepts the word planted in you, which can save you

ALONG THE PATH _The birds are identified as Satan- he is the destroyer, the tempter. He immediately comes and takes the word that is sown in them. This is a hard hearted person. There is no response

ROCKY GROUND— Others hear the word with hasty, enthusiastic but shallow profession of acceptance. They only last a short time, The word takes no root in them. They receive with Joy but when trouble comes, tribulation comes or persecution arises on account of the word, the immediately fall away

AMOUNG THE THORNS- verse 18 the word is sown among thorns, these people hear the word BUT the cares of the world (LIT worries of this present day and age) and the deceitfulness (deceptive lure) of riches and the desire for other things enter into their lives like choking thriving thorn plants, no fruit no true genuine belief

GOOD SOIL — Hear the word and accept it and bear fruit. These are the folks who are transformed and renewed. They have been born again. The fruit is evident of the HS in their life. These are the ones who by the grace of God have decerned the will of God and obey it. They produce a crop thirty fold and sixty fold and hundredfold. The produced crop it super natural. The love, joy, peace, patients, kindness, Goodness, faithfullnes, gentleness and self control is supernatural. The drive for evangelism, and hospitality is supernatural

Application

The wisdom of God, truth of God, word of God is given by the spirit not by human will or intelligence

Do you see yourself in these different soils? which one are you?

Do you sow seed everywhere you have opportunity? Do you pray for a harvest

Are you producing a crop? go through the fruits of the spirit and do you see them in your life? Jesus said those who do the will of God are his true family. Do you know God’s will and do you obey it?

Do you allow satan to come and steal the word sown in you before it can take root? Do you go back and open the bible and ask the spirit of God to protect you from satan and give you wisdom or is Sunday the only time you are hearing his word?

Does hardship and tribulation cause you to stay in doubt? stay confused and upset with God?

Does the current state of your life cause you to always be chasing other things other than seeking first the Kingdom of God. Does the deceitfulness of this present life keep you from baring fruit?

Now do something about it. Refuse to sit of the sideline any more. Beg allmighty God to change you, soften you, humble you and cause you to exhalt him in your life and start producing fruit out of Good soil proving your self by his Grace to have a harvest of 30, 60 and even 100 fold!!
