28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
A Psalm of David.
1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
3 He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever.
Psaml 23
Matthew 11
HCSB But if it doesn’t please you to worship Yahweh, choose for yourselves today the one you will worship: the gods your fathers worshiped beyond the Euphrates River or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living. As for me and my family, we will worship Yahweh.”
Adventure of Death
1.Life is mysterious and beyond human understanding
2.The deceased enjoys a unique experiencea.The cloud over his understanding has been removed
(1)We see a poor reflection of the truth—
HCSB For now we see indistinctly, as in a mirror, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I will know fully, as I am fully known.
b.He has realized what Paul longed for—
HCSBNot that I have already reached the goal or am already fully mature, but I make every effort to take hold of it because I also have been taken hold of by Christ Jesus. Brothers, I do not consider myself to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and reaching forward to what is ahead, I pursue as my goal the prize promised by God’s heavenly call in Christ Jesus.
3.This experience is not limited to a fewa.Appointed to all—
HCSBAnd just as it is appointed for people to die once—and after this, judgment —
b.Imagine what we shall see
I.We Shall See the Angels of God
A.We should be glad to see them
1.Keep us from wrong—; from harm—
HCSBWhen the donkey saw the Angel of the LORD standing on the path with a drawn sword in His hand, she turned off the path and went into the field. So Balaam hit her to return her to the path.
HCSB“See that you don’t look down on one of these little ones, because I tell you that in heaven their angels continually view the face of My Father in heaven.
2.Usher us into heaven—
HCSBOne day the poor man died and was carried away by the angels to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried.
3.Watch over our bodies—
HCSBYet Michael the archangel, when he was disputing with the Devil in a debate about Moses’ body, did not dare bring an abusive condemnation against him but said, “The Lord rebuke you!”
II.We Shall See Saints of All Ages—
HCSBWe do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, concerning those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve like the rest, who have no hope. Since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, in the same way God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep through Jesus. For we say this to you by a revelation from the Lord: We who are still alive at the Lord’s coming will certainly have no advantage over those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the archangel’s voice, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are still alive will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air and so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore encourage one another with these words.
A.Great men of the Bible—Moses, Peter, Paul, etc.
B.Family, friends, preachers, teachers
C. Mother and Father, Lannie and Joseph Blackwell, Wendy who died in September.
III.We Shall See Jesus
A.This is what every Christian desires
1.Paul describes this longing—
HCSBFor we know that the whole creation has been groaning together with labor pains until now. And not only that, but we ourselves who have the Spirit as the firstfruits —we also groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for adoption, the redemption of our bodies.
2.John Jasper, a Black preacher in Virginia during slavery, describes his longing: “Yes, mighty Angel, I does want dat crown, but first of all, I wants to find my Marse Jesus and fall down at His feet and thank Him for saving such a sinner as I was.”
3.We shall be changed—
HCSBDear friends, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet been revealed. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him because we will see Him as He is.
B.Who will go to heaven?
1.Those washed in blood—
HCSBI said to him, “Sir, you know.” Then he told me: These are the ones coming out of the great tribulation. They washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
2.Those brought there by Jesus—
HCSBIf I go away and prepare a place for you, I will come back and receive you to Myself, so that where I am you may be also.
