The King’s Prayer for you.
If you have been a Christian for any amount of time you will hopefully have come to some sort of understanding of the importance of and value of prayer.
Just think of the importance and value of the King allowing us to come and commune with Him.
The Invitation of the King
The Invitation of the King
His invitation is much more than just present requests to Him but rather to come and be a part of His family.
13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
Once far off, now by the blood of Jesus brought near. By the sacrifice of Jesus you have been brought near.
1 David asked, “Is there anyone still left of the house of Saul to whom I can show kindness for Jonathan’s sake?”
2 Now there was a servant of Saul’s household named Ziba. They summoned him to appear before David, and the king said to him, “Are you Ziba?” “At your service,” he replied.
3 The king asked, “Is there no one still alive from the house of Saul to whom I can show God’s kindness?” Ziba answered the king, “There is still a son of Jonathan; he is lame in both feet.”
4 “Where is he?” the king asked. Ziba answered, “He is at the house of Makir son of Ammiel in Lo Debar.”
5 So King David had him brought from Lo Debar, from the house of Makir son of Ammiel.
6 When Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, came to David, he bowed down to pay him honor. David said, “Mephibosheth!” “At your service,” he replied.
7 “Don’t be afraid,” David said to him, “for I will surely show you kindness for the sake of your father Jonathan. I will restore to you all the land that belonged to your grandfather Saul, and you will always eat at my table.”
8 Mephibosheth bowed down and said, “What is your servant, that you should notice a dead dog like me?”
9 Then the king summoned Ziba, Saul’s steward, and said to him, “I have given your master’s grandson everything that belonged to Saul and his family.
10 You and your sons and your servants are to farm the land for him and bring in the crops, so that your master’s grandson may be provided for. And Mephibosheth, grandson of your master, will always eat at my table.” (Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.)
11 Then Ziba said to the king, “Your servant will do whatever my lord the king commands his servant to do.” So Mephibosheth ate at David’s table like one of the king’s sons.
12 Mephibosheth had a young son named Mika, and all the members of Ziba’s household were servants of Mephibosheth.
13 And Mephibosheth lived in Jerusalem, because he always ate at the king’s table; he was lame in both feet.
2 Sam 9:1-
In 2 Samuel chapter 9 we can read a wonderful story about a crippled man who had been injured by the fight for life and survival being invited to dine at the King’s table.
NIV20 We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.
In Verse 8 we can read Mephibosheth’s response to the King’s mandate to restore what had been lost.
NIV20 But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,
8 Mephibosheth bowed down and said, “What is your servant, that you should notice a dead dog like me?”
2 Sam 9:
By the blood of Jesus we are brought near. Dont stay a far off. The place at the king’s table is yours and yours alone. Come - Sit - Share - Relate. injured yes but come. Hurt yes come. afraid yes come.
Jesus Prayer for you.
Jesus brings us in and near, in we have a recorded prayer of Jesus our King. Verses 1-5 Jesus prays for himself, verses 6-19 He prays for His disciples and in verses 20-26 He prays for all believers.
20 “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message,
21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.
22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one—
23 I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.
24 “Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.
25 “Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me.
26 I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.”
A prayer for unity.
A prayer for unity.
He prays that unity would be strong in the church so that those in our realm of influence will know that Jesus is the way the truth and the life.
Glory Given.
7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves;
2
Yes earthen vessels, but
So the Glory goes to God.
22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one—
23 I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.
Verses 22 and 23 tells us “I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.”
Glory given so unity is able to be reached. The result is that the world will know and see that Jesus sent from the Father because of His love for us.
We are one body!
4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called;
5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism;
6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.
A song of ascents. Of David.
1 How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!
2 It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron’s beard, down on the collar of his robe.
3 It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion. For there the Lord bestows his blessing, even life forevermore.
Verse 1. Unity is Good and Pleasant.
Verse 2. Unity is like the precious oil poured on the head.
- Anointing
Verse 3. Unity is like the dew of Hermon.
In unity God bestows a blessing (God gives a blessing)
3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.
4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called;
5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism;
6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.
Make every effort to keep unity.
