God’s promise

Hebrews 12:1–2 ESV
Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
It says that we have Jesus who is the founder and perfecter of our faith. We have Jesus who first gave us faith to believe in him and he promised to perfect it in our lives. He is the one who will make his plans happen in our lives. It also says that we need to lay aside every weight and sin that is so close to us and let us run with endurance the race in our lives.
Jesus has given everything we need to finish the race well. But we need to decide to do what needs to be done to run well. If you know that you are going to run a 42 km race. What will you do? will you drink coke and alcohol before you go and run. What will happen if you did that? I think you will not make it past the first kilometre. You will vomit everything out. The right thing that we should do is to sleep early, eat well and exercise daily so that we will be fit to run the race. We need to put the right things into our bodies and we also need to train correctly.
Not only these things, but we also need people who will run with us and encourage us when we are tired and when we think we are not going to make it. Have any of you run long distances before? 42 km? 20km? 10km? Well mine not very long, I just ran 10km a few times. But it was a very hard experience. after running 5 kms, I was in pain and I wanted to give up. I wanted to take a bus and go home. But my friends who were running with me encouraged to press on and not give up. Because of their encouragement, I decided to press on and continue.
