Isaiah 6:1-
Two weeks ago we talked about Levels of Fear, fear leading to obedience, and recognizing we substitute fear of God with fear of man.
So today I want to look at how we can maintain the fear of the Lord in our lives.
Fear of the Lord (worship)
Fear of the Lord (worship)
Isaiah was terrified at the vision, he was in awe to be in the presence of God.
Don’t get carried away by the location.
Its just a room, what makes the room holy is what’s being done their.
a building is made of metal, stone, and wood (like an idol!)
What makes this room special.
(it becomes a special place when we reserve that time to worship…)
we have VBS in here, meals in here, garage sales in here.
Reverence isn’t reserved for a room as much as for an occasion.
If we revere the room, but don’t worship in spirit and truth, we’ve misunderstood the fear of the Lord.
God doesn’t care about the building, he cares about the body of Christ (members).
God doesn’t care about the ritual, he cares about the renewing of our hearts and minds, wherever that may be.
Ben Stokes missions pastor at Harmony Hill Baptist Church (we went to high school together)- what to do with the disbanded building of a dead church.
sell it, plant a new church there, give it to an organization, we asked Ben’s opinion… Ben said in Africa we just found the nearest tree so he wouldn’t know the first thing to do with a building!

Listen and obey are the same word in Hebrew (shema)
What do you expect out of worship?
(glorify God, praising Him as God, Savior, Sustainer, Messiah, King of kings, Lord of lords and hearing from Him, we come to wroship
The point is, when we worship in the fear of the Lord, we listen to be transformed by the truth we hear from his word.
showing up without the desire to be transformed by God’s Word is worse than not showing up.

How would our relationships with others change if we feared the Lord?
We would read our bibles, not just carry them around.
and we would base our lives on what they said, we would not be okey with unbiblical systems and attitudes in the church or our homes or in our communities and we would do our part to change those unbiblical systems in a Christ honoring way.
We aren’t gauranteed a long life, but we would live healthier, more peaceful lives, we’d have less conflict with our family and others.
We’d have an advantage on those who are wicked!
We’d raise our children differently, with different priorities, different interpretations of the events happening around us.
Proverbs
We would be content with what we have and then be able to bless others with our excess.
We would have more peace in our lives and homes, sleep better!
Proverbs
We’d be humble and with that enjoy more wealth, honor and life.
Life would be brighter, days would be filled with productivity and meaning, life would be a joy instead of a drudgery.
We would be more gruntled and less disgruntled!
Proverbs 31:30
We’d have a healthier view of ourselves and others would view us in a better light.
