The entire world
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Spiritual not Earthly
Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.”
But about the Son he says, “Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.
Eternal
But about the Son he says, “Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.
After John was put in prison, Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God.
Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.
nor will people say, ‘Here it is,’ or ‘There it is,’ because the kingdom of God is in your midst.”
But he said, “I must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent.”
lk 4:
Reason for Repentance
“The Law and the Prophets were proclaimed until John. Since that time, the good news of the kingdom of God is being preached, and everyone is forcing their way into it.
and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”
A truth in prayer and a goal for us.
your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Given to us as an inheritance.
so that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom and sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
Lk 22:
Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.
Paradise
Luke 23:42
Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”
The Kingdom of God is eternal where Christ reigns supreme. Everything will be under its blessing and there will be no end to peace. That is except, for that which doesn’t make it in. Weeping, gnashing of teeth, hell, sorrow, etc. So lets make it into the Kingdom of God.
Only One way
Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”
In a Nut Shell
The Kingdom of God is eternal where Christ reigns supreme. Everything will be under its blessing and there will be no end to peace. That is except, for that which doesn’t make it in. Weeping, gnashing of teeth, hell, sorrow, etc. So lets make it into the Kingdom of God.
One Day vs This Day
One Day vs This Day
One day as we read earlier if we are born again we will be in the kingdom of God. And on that day we will experience a paradise unlike anything that we could possibly experience in this world.
On this day the Kingdom of God requires work. The parables talk to us about “the Kingdom of God is like” and then it describes how we should be. and if we aren’t, we don’t make it.
But if its today or in the future, His kingdom has a few things in common.
Christ is the King
Those that follow Him are His subjects - and they are blessed.
They are glorifying Him.
Starting a Series of the Kingdom Parables
Starting a Series of the Kingdom Parables
Before we start - A lesson about parables.
Before we start - A lesson about parables.
Parables have one truth that Christ is trying to convey.
The Bible means what it God meant it to mean.
There are no
The Bible typically does not have secret truths that are only given to you.
It means what it means in the context it was given in. Please, I BEG, rest in that.
Again Jesus began to teach by the lake. The crowd that gathered around him was so large that he got into a boat and sat in it out on the lake, while all the people were along the shore at the water’s edge. He taught them many things by parables, and in his teaching said: “Listen! A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants, so that they did not bear grain. Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up, grew and produced a crop, some multiplying thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times.” Then Jesus said, “Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.” When he was alone, the Twelve and the others around him asked him about the parables. He told them, “The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to you. But to those on the outside everything is said in parables so that, “ ‘they may be ever seeing but never perceiving, and ever hearing but never understanding; otherwise they might turn and be forgiven!’” Then Jesus said to them, “Don’t you understand this parable? How then will you understand any parable? The farmer sows the word. Some people are like seed along the path, where the word is sown. As soon as they hear it, Satan comes and takes away the word that was sown in them. Others, like seed sown on rocky places, hear the word and at once receive it with joy. But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. Still others, like seed sown among thorns, hear the word; but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful. Others, like seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept it, and produce a crop—some thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times what was sown.”
Verse by Verse
Verse by Verse
v.11 - in this parable is the secret to the Kingdom and by extension carries through the next few parables in Mark.
v. 10 - He who has ears.
v. 12 - everyone has ears and the goal of Christ is that all are forgiven (to be part of the Kingdom)
v. 13-14 - The initial farmer is God. The seed is the word.
(This passage is not about seed faith, money, work, etc, etc, etc. The passage said “The farmer sows the word.” It is about the application of Christ and the good news to our lives and the lives of everyone around us. The preachers that use these parables to fill the pockets of their ministries — are grossly misrepresenting what the passage is saying.
This passage is about the eternal truth that Jesus Christ came to earth to take the punishment for the unrighteousness of all of humanity so that they can be all they were created to be in Him not have to suffer eternal separating from everything that is good. He came to bind the broken hearted, give sight to the spiritually blind, to break chains, and set us free.. partially today in this world and completely and permanently for eternity in the next life.
v.15 - seed on the path they simply wont hear
v.16-17 seed on rocky places - they like the good news but as soon as their troubles they give up.
v. 18-19 seed in thorns - they have allowed the weeds of the world choke out the good news. (there is also an implied test that if we are not bearing fruit this might be the reason.)
v.20 seed on good soil.
hear it (let it rest, they are ready to listen)
accept it
produce a crop -
crop is always more seed
the seed is always the word to be applied liberally
what the seed does has little to do with us we only need to allow the farmer to do what he will with us and the seed He has produced in us.
Conclusion
Conclusion
Our job is to do our best to be the dirt.
Sometimes we might be consumed with worry and the things of the world and the good news is being choked out of us - God is still throwing seed - in fact He’s doing it right now.
Maybe there is trouble in our lives that make us simply want to give up and you feel week and unstable. The good news is that God is still throwing the seed. - in fact, He’s doing it right now.
Maybe your heart is hard. Your simply tired of hearing it. Your heart is the path that has been walked all over way to much. The good new is - God is till throwing seed - in fact, He’s doing it right now.
Let me tell you something about that seed. It doesn’t matter how hard you’ve gotten. It doesn’t matter how how rocky the soil is. It doesn’t matter how much the thorns of this life is trying to choke you out. If you know anything about seed, They always win. But lets help the seed by being ready to hear, accepting the truth, and allowing God to bring the fruit.
