On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’ ” Now this he said about the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were to receive, for as yet the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

A time where willows would be placed around the alter asking for God’s vindication from judgment
The willow is beat on the ground representing the wrath of God on his people

Prays: “Please, G‑d, bring us salvation. Please, G‑d, bring us success”
It is also the day when G‑d judges how much rain we’ll receive in the coming year
It is also the day when G‑d judges how much rain we’ll receive in the coming year
Jesus stands up at says:
English Standard Version Chapter 7
“If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’ ”
The answer to their prayers had arrived in Jesus Christ.
Jesus quotes
“Come, everyone who thirsts,
come to the waters;
and he who has no money,
come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without price.
God’s invitation for salvation from his judgment.
Jesus brings a great interruption!
Doctrine
Doctrine
When Jesus breaks in there is salvation.
“Come, everyone who thirsts,
come to the waters;
and he who has no money,
come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without price.
He is the promised Messiah prophesied about in the Scriptures
“If anyone thirsts . . .”

Jesus knew all men desire to be restored to their natural state
There is a deep need in all of us - to be made right
Sin and the fall destroyed the perfection Adam enjoyed
We all long for life
Eternal life - death is not natural
We seek to live longer and prolong life - this is the natural course
“Let him come to me and drink”
Jesus offers himself as the living water
Woman at the well:
English Standard Version Chapter 4
13 Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” 15 The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water, so that I will not be thirsty or have to come here to draw water.”
Jesus’ invitation here is for salvation and redemption
“Whoever believes in me . . .”
When Jesus breaks into the world
Jesus invitation is through faith
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Jesus breaks in and in fulfilling the OT system of sacrifices says to come to him and believe
No need for anymore of these things to take place
So, Jesus breaks in to offer salvation for mankind
When Jesus breaks in there is a new spirit
“out of his heart . . .”
Direct reference to the spirit of men
a new spirit is promised by God in Scripture
With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.
Then he brought me back to the door of the temple, and behold, water was issuing from below the threshold of the temple toward the east (for the temple faced east). The water was flowing down from below the south end of the threshold of the temple, south of the altar.
Ez 47:1
The body is the temple of God ()
As the water flows from the temple represents the joy of redemption so too does the HS flow from the hearts of men who believe in Jesus

What we need when we are discouraged is for Jesus to break in and make these great announcements.
If your discouraged maybe you are stuck in the mundane and you need Jesus to break in
We become focused on the rituals, the works, the striving for the things of the world
Pray for Jesus to break in and shake things up
Sit under preaching and teaching of his word
Get into
When we are discouraged - thirsty look to your salvation in Jesus Christ
Reflecting on our salvation can be a great way of putting our eyes back on Christ
So many things in our lives distract us
draw us away from salvation and we become discouraged
It is only when Jesus breaks in with such great announcements that get our attention
I live in a small town, Thomson Ga
Not much ever happens. We are immune to many storms.
One day as a thunderstorm came past and I heard a sound I had never heard before. It was an alarm.
It was a tornado warning alarm. I didn’t even know we had one. But, my response was immediate. I ran and grabbed my wife and daughter and went into the tub in the center of the house,
While nothing came of it and we saw no tornado, I was glad for the warning.
When Jesus breaks in he always brings a message - salvation
Are you discouraged? Do you desire living waters to flow from your heart bringing you joy?
Turn to Jesus and ask him to break in and give you this living water.
His Spirit dwells within you and you can be encouraged again. This life is tough. But he offers joy in time of discouragement and sadness.
Let us turn to Christ and ask him to break into our lives and refresh us as we await his glorious return.
