matthew 14:
When the disciples saw him walking on the water, they were terrified. In their fear, they cried out, “It’s a ghost!”
But Jesus spoke to them at once. “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “Take courage. I am here!”
Then Peter called to him, “Lord, if it’s really you, tell me to come to you, walking on the water.”
“Yes, come,” Jesus said. So Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus.
But when he saw the strong wind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink. “Save me, Lord!” he shouted.
Jesus immediately reached out and grabbed him. “You have so little faith,” Jesus said. “Why did you doubt me?”
We as Christians bring so much trouble unto ourselves with our unbelief. so the question about today is why do we doubt God?
What is doubt? Doubt is the uncertainty about the truth and reality of spiritual things.
Scripture provides multiple examples of believers who express temporary doubt, the main problem was Theron certainly about rather not God was willing or had the power to deliver his people, the nature of his purpose and where did they fit into the divine plan.
(Moses, Gideon, Elijah, Jeremiah)To just name a few.
Here we're looking at Peter,

Matthew 14:22-
Immediately after this, Jesus insisted that his disciples get back into the boat and cross to the other side of the lake, while he sent the people home.
After sending them home, he went up into the hills by himself to pray. Night fell while he was there alone.
Meanwhile, the disciples were in trouble far away from land, for a strong wind had risen, and they were fighting heavy waves.
1. He bought for me here

And some of us going to yell why me Lord?
You have given your life to Christ and And you are now following Jesus, and while you are doing the work of the Lord Here Comes Trouble” a storm”
When that storm happens some of us are going to say Lord you have called me to do this why are you allowing this storm to be in my way.
When that storm happens some of us are going to say Lord you have called me to do this why are you allowing this storm to be in my way.
Understand the storm came because you were doing the will of God. So the next question would be did Jesus know the storm, why did he send me this way. he certainly did. so he deliberately sent you Into the Storm, yes.
Understand this you are safer in the storm oh, in the will of God, think you are out of the storm out of the will of God.
remember we cannot judge safety based on our circumstances alone.
Many Christians have the mistaken idea that obedience to God will produce smooth sailing. but this is not true. in the world you shall have trials and sorrows, Jesus Promised this…
when we find ourselves in the store because we have obeyed the Lord we must remember he brought us here and He can care for us in the mist of the storm..
I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”

2. He pray for me
2. He pray for me
verse 23 says he went away by himself to pray…
So far this scene is a picture of the church today. think about it there are many of us there are in our personal storms today and just like he was doing for the disciple on the mountain he is also in heaven now interceding for us.
Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us.
He sees us and knows our needs.
she sees us and knows our needs.
If you knew Christ was in the Next Room praying for you, would it not give you new courage to endure the storm and to do His will? Of course it would!!! He's not in the Next Room but he's in heaven interceding on your behalf, He sees your needs, he knows your fears, and he is in complete control of the situation.
Trust Him!

That brings us to
3. He will come to me
3. He will come to me
Often in the midst of our storm we feel alone, we feel like Jesus has deserted us.
In Psalms David complained that God seems so far away and unconcerned. yet he knew that God would ultimately rescue him.
Jesus always comes to us in the storms of life.
When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.
He may not come at the time we think you should come, because he knows when we need him the most. He waits until the shipWas as far away as possible , so that all human Hope was gone.
I have 2 questions
Why was Jesus walking on the water? Think about it, The very thing that was causing the disciples trouble the sea Jesus was walking on top of it. showing them that the very thing they fear he was in complete control and could handle the situation.
Often we have difficulties in life (Such as surgeries or the passing of a loved one), only to discover that these experiences brings Jesus Christ closer to us.
why didn't they recognize Jesus? because they were not looking for him. Had they had been waiting by faith, they would have known him immediately. instead they jump to false conclusions that a ghost had appeared.
Fear and faith cannot live in the same house , for fear always blinds the eyes to the presence of God.

matt 14:2
And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.”
So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus.
But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”
And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”
4. He helps me grow
4. He helps me grow
This is the whole purpose of the storm to help the disciples grow in their faith.
After all, one day Jesus will not be there with them, and they would have faced many storms in their Ministries.
They had to learn to trust him even when he wasn't physically present with them, even when it looked as she did not care.
Let’s shift our Focus to Peter, it is easy to look at Peter’s wavering faith and start to criticize him but if we only look at that, we miss something very special. We miss Peter’s extraordinary faith, He dare to be different. Anybody can sit in a boat and watch, but it takes a person with real faith to leave the boat and walk on water.

What caused Peter to sink? His face begin to waver because he took his eyes off the Lord and to begin to look at the circumstances around him.
“Why did you doubt?” Jesus asked him in verse 31.
The word doubt is means “ standing uncertainty at two ways.”
Peter started out with great faith but ended up with love Faith because he saw two ways instead of one.
But we must get Peter credit for knowing that he was thinking and crying out for the Lord for help. She cried out for help when he was thinking not when he was drowning.
Peter later wrote….
The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right, and his ears are open to their prayers. But the Lord turns his face against those who do evil.”
this experience was difficult for Peter, but it helps him to grow in the knowledge of himself and of the Lord.
The storms of life are not easy but they are necessary. they teaches us to trust Christ Alone and to obey his word no matter what the circumstances may be.
I'm going to leave you with this to think about….
faith is not believing in spite of the evidence, but oh babe in spite of the consequences.
