INTRODUCTION

Who am I?
Hector Mora
Pastor Vision LB in Long Beach CA

I have been saved by Jesus
I love Jesus
But I struggle.

CLOSE YOUR EYES:

THINK ABOUT SOMETHING THAT YOU HAVE BEEN WANTING FOR A WHILE.

IS THERE SOMETHING RIGHT NOW, THAT YOU WISHED YOU HAD?

ASK YOURSELF:

IS THERE SOMETHING RIGHT NOW, THAT YOU WISHED YOU HAD?

WHY DO I WANT THIS?

MAYBE A PAIR OF J’S OR YEZZY’S
A PIECE OF TECHNOLOGY

WHY DO I DESIRE THIS?

A HUGE FOLLOWING ON SOCIAL

DOES THIS THING HAVE THE ABILITY TO GLORIFY THE LORD?

A GIRLFRIEND A BOYFRIEND
SOME SWAG
FAME AKA YOU WANT TO GO VIRAL
BARS . . . LYRICAL BARS
MINISTRY POSITION

EVERY DAY WE ARE FACED WITH THE REALITY THAT WE ARE INCOMPLETE

EVERY DAY WE LIVE WITH THE AMBITION TO SATISFY A PHYSICAL OR EMOTIONAL CRAVING

DO THESE THINGS ENABLE OBEDIENCE, OR DISTRACT YOU FROM OBEDIENCE?
The way we dress
The way we talk
DO THEY ENABLE FAITH FILLED DECISIONS, OR HINDER YOU FROM MAKING FAITH FILLED DECISIONS?
The music we listen to
What we eat
Everything that we do is built around a need to satisfy something within
The Question is this:
Every day, we are challenged to do stuff because it is
I’m going to dress this way because my friends think its FRESH
AT WHAT COST ARE WE SATISFIED?
I’m going to talk this way
HOW MANY OF US BELIEVE THAT JESUS WAS A REVOLUTIONARY?
HOW MANY OF US WANT TO BE MORE LIKE JESUS?
I’m going to act this way
CHECK OUT WHAT JESUS SAID:
Because it satisfy’s a deep hunger within me
John 4:34 NKJV
34 Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.
to be accepted
A hunger to be accepted
WHAT DOES THIS LOOK LIKE?
A hunger to be valued
A hunger that proves that I am worth something
Though what you look like, how you dress, what you eat, and what you have may add volume to your self esteem
SO WHAT IS ULTIMATE? WHAT IS GREATEST?
Though this may be dope, its not the dopest.
SO WHAT IS ULTIMATE? WHAT IS GREATEST?
IT ALL DEPENDS . . .
ON WHO AND WHAT YOU DEEM ULTIMATE OR GREATEST

TURN TO

Hebrews 11:7 NKJV
7 By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.
HEBREWS 11:7

WHO IS NOAH?

Noah lived in a culture that didn’t give a rip about God
Jesus said in
Matthew 24:38 NKJV
38 For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark,
Matthew24:
Noah, by the Grace of God, was a divider of Epochs
He was the chosen vessel that ushered in a new age of trusting and believing God
Everything that could have defined him, was everything that He chose not to walk in.
The trends of the world during his time
The Hype
The carelessness and futility of the culture
The urge to satisfy your every craving
Was the norm for at least 7 generations
It is said that from Adam to Noah there was a span of 1500+ years
From Adam to the days of Noah, humanity invested in this type of lifestyle
A lifestyle driven by the hellish question “Did God really say.”
It was a culture motivated to continue doing as they wished
Eating and Drinking
Marrying and giving people in Marriage
Everyone was doing what was right in their own eyes
EVERYONE, EXCEPT FOR ONE DUDE
CHECK OUT HOW MOSES DOCUMENTED NOAH’S LIFE
Genesis 6 NKJV
1 Now it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born to them, 2 that the sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose. 3 And the Lord said, “My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.” 4 There were giants on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown. 5 Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 6 And the Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. 7 So the Lord said, “I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them.” 8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. 9 This is the genealogy of Noah. Noah was a just man, perfect in his generations. Noah walked with God. 10 And Noah begot three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth. 11 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. 12 So God looked upon the earth, and indeed it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth. 13 And God said to Noah, “The end of all flesh has come before Me, for the earth is filled with violence through them; and behold, I will destroy them with the earth. 14 Make yourself an ark of gopherwood; make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and outside with pitch. 15 And this is how you shall make it: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, its width fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits. 16 You shall make a window for the ark, and you shall finish it to a cubit from above; and set the door of the ark in its side. You shall make it with lower, second, and third decks. 17 And behold, I Myself am bringing floodwaters on the earth, to destroy from under heaven all flesh in which is the breath of life; everything that is on the earth shall die. 18 But I will establish My covenant with you; and you shall go into the ark—you, your sons, your wife, and your sons’ wives with you. 19 And of every living thing of all flesh you shall bring two of every sort into the ark, to keep them alive with you; they shall be male and female. 20 Of the birds after their kind, of animals after their kind, and of every creeping thing of the earth after its kind, two of every kind will come to you to keep them alive. 21 And you shall take for yourself of all food that is eaten, and you shall gather it to yourself; and it shall be food for you and for them.” 22 Thus Noah did; according to all that God commanded him, so he did.
Genesis 6:5–12 NKJV
Genesis 6:5–8 NKJV
5 Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 6 And the Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. 7 So the Lord said, “I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them.” 8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.
GENESIS 6:
THIS WAS NOAH’S REALITY
THESE WERE HIS SURROUNDINGS
HE DIDN’T CHOOSE IT, THIS WAS THE STAGE THAT WAS GIVEN TO HIM
The wickedness of man was great in the earth
Every intent and thought of the Heart were continually Evil
This Grieved God
Why?
Because it wasn’t how He wished it would have gone
If it was up to Him, Eden would have continued to be the epicenter of Life
BECAUSE THIS WASN’T THE CASE
BECAUSE EVIL FLOURISHED
BECAUSE REPENTANCE WAS ABSENT IN THIS CULTURE
BECAUSE HUMANITY WAS LIVING INTO A SUB PAR POTENTIAL
God decided to start over
But not completely
God decided to start over with one Family that had found Grace in his sight.

HOW DID NOAH FIND GRACE IN GOD’S SIGHT?

WHAT WAS NOAH DOING?
WHAT WAS ACTIVE IN THE LIFE OF NOAH?
NOAH FOUND GRACE IN GOD’S SIGHT
THERE WAS SOMETHING THAT NOAH WAS DOING THAT MADE HIM DIFFERENT THAN EVERYONE ELSE ON THE PLANET
Noah was a just man
NOAH WAS A JUST MAN
He was upright
NOAH WAS A JUST MAN
He was innocent
He was above reproach
NOAH WAS PERFECT IN HIS GENERATIONS
That word perfect is Unscathed, blameless, without fault, whole
WHERE?
IN HIS GENERATIONS
It speaks to not being influenced by his surroundings or his circumstance
It speaks to a wholeness found in something other than what was normal
It speaks to a consecration, a setting apart for a greater purpose.
This allowed him to do something that was unheard of
This made Noah a catalyst of righteousness
SO WHAT WAS IT?
NOAH WALKED WITH GOD
WHEN THE WORLD WAS CORRUPT
WHEN THE WORLD WAS VIOLENT
NOAH INVESTED IN HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH THE LORD
HOW?
By making time
By being available
By disempowering the things that hindered his walk with the Lord
THESE ARE THE BLUEPRINTS FOR HAVING A LIVING FAITH
A FAITH THAT ISN’T DEAD BUT ACTIVE
A FAITH THAT WOULD NOT ONLY CAUSE YOU TO BELIEVE, BUT TO OBEY.

WHAT DID THAT FAITH LOOK LIKE?

Hebrews 11:7 NKJV
7 By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.
Hebrews 6:7 NKJV
7 For the earth which drinks in the rain that often comes upon it, and bears herbs useful for those by whom it is cultivated, receives blessing from God;
“BY FAITH NOAH . . . “
WHAT IS FAITH?
FAITH IS THE SUBSTANCE OF THINGS HOPED FOR
THE EVIDENCE OF THINGS NOT SEEN
SO WHAT WAS NOAH HOPING FOR?
WHAT EVIDENCE DID HE HAVE THAT WHAT HE BELIEVED WOULD COME TO PASS?
“Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen”
Noah, had established a living conversation with the Lord
Noah, not only walked with God, but talked with Him
He had an open conversation with the Lord
He
Asked Him why?
Asked Him how?
One day, God clued Noah in on what He was about to do
When God responded
It was such a heavy picture that it moved Him with a godly fear
It was a healthy fear of the Lord
A fear that caused Noah to have a Faith that was Living & Active
THIS IS WHAT THE WORD AND VOICE OF GOD DOES
I believe that most of the time, we get bored with Christianity because our dialogue with the Lord is absent
It is what the Still small voice motivates us to do
I believe that most of the time, we get bored with Christianity because our dialogue with the Lord is absent
I believe we are anxious, worried, and struggling because we have yet to hear that still small voice regarding the matter that is troubling us
NOAH’S FAITH WAS DRIVEN BY THE WORD OF GOD
IT WAS THE WORD OF GOD THAT STRENGTHENED HIM TO DO WHAT HE WAS CALLED TO DO
“Prepare an ark for the saving of his household”
Build a boat that would save his family
But not only that
The building of the ark, as crazy as it was
Became a testimony to those who would not believe
Genesis 613
The building of the Ark, as crazy as it was
Transformed Noah into an heir of righteousness which is according to Faith.
FAITH IN WHAT?
Faith in what the Father had spoken.
SEE IT TAKES FAITH TO BELIEVE GOD’S WORD
IT TAKES FAITH TO BELIEVE HIS PROMISES
IT TAKES FAITH TO STOP WHAT YOU WERE DOING AND BUILD A BOAT.
IN IT SAYS “AND GOD SAID TO NOAH”
IN IT SAYS “I WILL ESTABLISH MY COVENANT WITH YOU”
IN IT SAYS “ THEN THE LORD SAID TO NOAH”
IN IT SAYS “NOAH DID ACCORDING TO ALL THAT THE LORD HAD COMMANDED”
CHURCH THE STORY OF NOAH PROVES TO US THAT THEIR IS VALUE IN WALKING WITH GOD AND HEARING HIS VOICE
TO HAVE A LIVING FAITH WE MUST BE ACTIVELY PARTICIPATING IN WHAT GOD HAS FOR US
2 Peter 2:5 NKJV
5 and did not spare the ancient world, but saved Noah, one of eight people, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood on the world of the ungodly;
THE BIBLE TELLS US THAT NOAH WAS A PREACHER OF RIGHTEOUSNESS
It wasn’t just something that He taught
It was something that Noah lived out
Have you ever thought about the building of the boat?
Noah would work alongside his sons
He would have hired some carpenters
He would have had to go to Home Depot and bought Gopher Wood
People would have thought He was crazy
People would have thought He was crazy
Those watching him would have so many questions
The cashiers, the carpenters, and even his family
IT WAS WHILE NOAH BUILT THE BOAT THAT HE PREACHED ABOUT THE LACK OF RIGHTEOUSNESS THAT EXISTED DURING THIS EPOCH
It was his Obedience that preached
It was his faithfulness that preached
It was his Walk with the Lord that preached
These 3 components spoke to the LIVING FAITH HE HAD IN A LIVING GOD.
FROM THE FLOOD UNTIL NOW, THINGS HAVE CHANGED A LITTLE BIT.
I’ve been able to hang with and pour into many your age
Many who say that they are bored with Christianity
Many who
Faith in Christ not only drives us to Repentance, it drives us to obedience!
Isaiah 54:9–10 NKJV
9 “For this is like the waters of Noah to Me; For as I have sworn That the waters of Noah would no longer cover the earth, So have I sworn That I would not be angry with you, nor rebuke you. 10 For the mountains shall depart And the hills be removed, But My kindness shall not depart from you, Nor shall My covenant of peace be removed,” Says the Lord, who has mercy on you.
HERE IS THE DEAL:
WHEN WE HEAR GOD’S VOICE
WHEN WE READ HIS WORD AND APPLY IT
WE SHOULD EXPECT THE PROMISES OF GOD TO COME ALIVE IN OUR LIVES
WE THINK IT WAS JUST BUILDING A BOAT
WHEN ACTUALLY, IT WAS GOD USHERING IN A COVENANT OF GRACE
FOR NOAH IT WAS THE PROMISE OF SALVATION
BUT IN ISAIAH, THE SAME PROMISE LOOKS A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT
It is a Promise that lives on to this day
From the Floods of Noah all the way to the present
His Kindness will not depart from us
God has sworn to never cover the earth with water
But not only that
Nor shall His covenant of peace be removed
Says the Merciful God
He has sworn to not be angry with us nor rebuke us
THIS IS PROMISED TO THOSE WHO CHOOSE TO WALK IN GOD’S PROMISES
It hasn’t been easy
Its been a roller coaster
I’ve had to bury my friends wife
I’ve had to work hard
I’ve had to realize that in order to live into what God has called me to
I need to focus more on that calling than anything else
I’ve had to realize what my Ark is
HERE IS THE REALITY:
OUR WORLD IS EQUALLY AS EVIL AND DESTITUTE AS THE DAYS OF NOAH
WE ARE LIVING IN
PEOPLE DONT GIVE A RIP ABOUT GOD
THE QUESTONS IS:
WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO ABOUT IT?
My question to you is what is your Ark?
What is God calling you to do that puts on display who He is?
What is the Lord asking you to step into that will put on display His Grace and Promises to people who don’t know Him?
What are we going to put all our effort into?
BUILDING THE ARK COST NOAH TIME, BUT IT SAVED HIS FAMILY
ARE YOU GOING TO LIVE A LIFE OF FAITH IN ORDER TO SEE OTHERS SAVED?
YOUR FRIENDS THAT DONT GO TO CHURCH
YOUR FAMILY THAT THINKS YOUR CRAZY FOR GOING TO CHURCH
WILL YOU BUILD RELATIONSHIPS TO SEE OTHERS SAVED
Faith in Christ not only drives us to Repentance, it drives us to obedience!
