Live for Christ Today

He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.

15 He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.

I. Look to Christ Today

We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.

A. Many Christians look to doctors, lawyers, ministers, or friends more than they look to Christ; they find disappointment.

B. While help from others should be appreciated, real and lasting help can come only from the Lord. “Therefore I will look unto the Lord” ().

As for me, I look to the Lord for help. I wait confidently for God to save me, and my God will certainly hear me.

A. Some Christians neglect the Word of Christ. They are too involved with personal pursuits.

B. If we are to live for Christ today, we must read and meditate on his Word, which teaches us how to live victoriously over sin, self, and Satan (see ).

Such things were written in the Scriptures long ago to teach us. And the Scriptures give us hope and encouragement as we wait patiently for God’s promises to be fulfilled.

III. Lean on Christ Today

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.

A. Christians fail when they lean on their own power, position, or possessions.

B. We must trust in Christ today. He enables us to accomplish our tasks and bear our responsibilities. “And the Lord shall help them” ().

The Lord helps them, rescuing them from the wicked. He saves them, and they find shelter in him.

IV. Lift with Christ Today

As God’s partners, we beg you not to accept this marvelous gift of God’s kindness and then ignore it.

1As God’s partners, we beg you not to accept this marvelous gift of God’s kindness and then ignore it.

A. When it comes to doing God’s work, many Christians falter because of a lack of cooperation from others.

B. We are not alone. Christ is with us, beside us, and within us. He will enable us to assist the less fortunate, comfort the sick and lonely, and witness to the unsaved about Christ (see ).

For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.

V. Love as Christ Today

Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.

2Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.

A. Christ loved us so much he died on the cross, taking our place. We must love God and others also (see ).

Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other.
