SIN SPREADS EASIER THAN HOLINESS

Sin is like spaghetti sauce… it stains what it touches
other translations say so it is with SIN
when your heart isn’t right with God… everything that you do will be wrong
What did Jesus say about giving a gift to God
if you have a gift to bring but you have something against your brother
leave your gift at the altar then go and make things right with them
then return and give your gift to God

Haggai 2:
before they laid the first stone He sent a message
you drink but your thristy
eat but hungry
working put money in purse with holes
God said you are not getting ahead because He didn’t let you
we don’t like to think of God this way
but he says that He did all of this but we still refuse to turn to Him
God is not trying to punish but to restore
God may not change your negative situation because He is trying to change your heart
I’m not saying that if something bad happens that you have done something wrong
I’m not saying that if you are struggling right now that you deserve it
BUT HE MAY be trying to get your attention
He didn’t take from them but cut off their supply
If your child goes off to college & you are sending money to them but you find out that they are buying booze & drugs instead of food and books you will cut off the supply
WHY?
because they are not representing your values

Jesus quoted Isaiah
These people honor me with their lips but their hearts are far from me
Back in Haggai God ended up getting their hearts
even though they hadn’t planted the seed yet there will be a great harvest of blessings
not because they build the Temple but
BECAUSE THEY GAVE GOD THEIR HEARTS
maybe your here and you know how to fit in but you know that you haven’t given your heart yet
COME AND OFFER IT TO HIM
there is a destructive power to sin
need to come and repent
secret sins will eventually find you out
BUT Jesus offers new life & forgiveness from sins
