The School of Experience is a pretty tough institution. And it’s a lot tougher when we fail to learn our lessons. You remember the case of the school principal who protested to his superintendent because he wasn’t given a certain promotion. “After all,” he said, “I’ve had twenty-five years’ experience.” “No, Joe,” said the superintendent, “that’s where you are wrong. You have had one year’s experience twenty-five times!”

Personally I am always ready to learn, although I do not always like being taught.

The factors that led to Israel’s destruction.
1. Remember the Past Provision (v.1-4)
The advantages enjoyed by Israel (10:1–4)
1. They were led by the cloud of God’s glory (10:1).
Exodus 13:21 (NASB95) 21 The Lord was going before them in a pillar of cloud by day to lead them on the way, and in a pillar of fire by night to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night.
Nehemiah 9:11 (NASB95)11 “You divided the sea before them, So they passed through the midst of the sea on dry ground; And their pursuers You hurled into the depths, Like a stone into raging waters.

3. They were supernaturally provided with food and water (10:3–4a).
Exodus 16:4 (NASB95) 4 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a day’s portion every day, that I may test them, whether or not they will walk in My instruction.
Exodus 17:6 (NASB95) “Behold, I will stand before you there on the rock at Horeb; and you shall strike the rock, and water will come out of it, that the people may drink.” And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.
4. Christ himself accompanied them (10:4b).
Psalm 78:15-18 (NASB95) He split the rocks in the wilderness
And gave them abundant drink like the ocean depths. 16 He brought forth streams also from the rock And caused waters to run down like rivers. 17 Yet they still continued to sin against Him, To rebel against the Most High in the desert. 18 And in their heart they put God to the test By asking food according to their desire.

Numbers 21:5-6 (ESV) 5 And the people spoke against God and against Moses, “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no food and no water, and loathe this worthless food.” 6 the Lord sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people, so that many people of Israel died.
4. They were guilty of ingratitude-Complaining (10:10): They grumbled, and God sent the angel of death
Num 16:41 But on the next day all the congregation of the people of Israel grumbled against Moses and against Aaron, saying, “You have killed the people of the Lord.” 42 And when the congregation had assembled against Moses and against Aaron, they turned toward the tent of meeting. And behold, the cloud covered it, and the glory of the Lord appeared.
