SONG 1
In addition to his mother he is survived by his stepfather Johnny Hobbs, Two sisters; Amie Danielle Payton and Johanna Nicole Payton.
One brother Mathew Watts.
Three uncles; Ronnie, Leonard and Randall Payton.
Two cousins Christopher and Sabrina Payton and several other cousins.
I must begin by telling you that I never knew Brandon Payton.
I first came to know about him through this horrific accident.
I found out through speaking to his mother and step father that Brandon was well loved by many.
His uncle Ronnie loved him deeply, his step father Johnny Hobbs also loved him much.
He had a whole host of friends who loved him also.
I was told that he was a good son who loved his mother and his family and friends deeply.
But none of what I was told prepares me to speak as one of authority at the Funeral of Brandon Payton.
I have preached funerals of someone murdered at a young age, the funeral of a small child only 9 years old, the funeral of a man that 1/2 the family wanted me to preach him into heaven and the other 1/2 wanted me to preach him into hell.
I have preach the funerals of those I never knew and of those I knew and loved deeply.
I even preached my own mothers funeral.
But none of that is what has prepared me for this day the day that I was chosen to preach Brandon Payton’s funeral.
What has prepared me for this moment; this moment of grief and sorrow This moment of anger and confusion, this moment of doubt and fear is my relationship with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
You see at all times on this earth there are two laws in effect and we were all born under this Law; The Law of Sin and Death.
This law is focused on the flesh and keeps us in the bondage this flesh brings, the second law is the Law of Grace which came through Jesus Christ.
The Law of Grace frees us from the bondage of sin
The Second Law is available to those who choose to receive Christ as their Savior .
When I met with Brandon’s Mother and Step Father I asked them did Brandon have a relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ?
His mother told me in her response that when he was a child that she took him to church with her and that her and her husband were Christians.
I then began to speak the truth of God’s word unto her the words from the book of Philippians chapter 1 and verse 6.
I reminded her that God looks upon the heart and it is us (man) who looks on the flesh for judgement.
Brandon Payton’s heart has been fully revealed to his creator the God of this world and His Word (Jesus Christ) in whom his judgement is found.
No one in this room can say with 100% surety where Brandon’s
That Judgement will be just and true.
The Lord God Jehovah is omnipotent (all Knowing) and see the thoughts of our heart.
You see because Brandon’s mother could not clearly say that she knew beyond a shadow of doubt that Brandon had excepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, that he had confessed his sins with his mouth and believed with his life that Jesus died for him to pay the price for the sin in Brandon’s life, that Jesus rose again from the dead in 3 days after his death so that Brandon could have eternal life, all I could do is offer her hope from the Word of God.
I offer you the same hope that if Brandon accepted Christ as his savior then his eternity will be spent with God in Heaven.
Romans
I am here today to speak to those of you who are here today that also cannot say without a Shadow of a doubt that your eternity will be spent in heaven with God.
