Six Questions (Let the six questions guide your inductive exploration of the Bible text. The sermon outline and follow-up questions are there to help you to explore if you wish)
What do you like/notice in this passage?
What do you learn about God in this passage?
What do you learn about people in this passage?
What do you dislike or is difficult in this passage?
What one thing will you take away from this passage and apply to your life?
Who needs to know what you just learned? When will you share it with them?
Introduction

If your salvation doesn’t work its not from God.

Potential land mines: We are not talking about salvation that flows from works. We are saved by grace through faith alone.
God’s salvation works: meaning that it is effective but it also is active. It goes deep and transforms us.

Definition of a Disciple: A disciple is open and committed to following Jesus, being transformed by Jesus, and living on mission with Jesus.

Philippians 2:12–13 ESV
Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.

Too far on the active
God desire us to seek to grow and be responsible for our actions while we continually recognize that it is his grace that empowers us for the journey.
Application

A salvation that works transforms...

Philippians 2:
Philippians 2:14–18 ESV
Do all things without grumbling or disputing, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain. Even if I am to be poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrificial offering of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all. Likewise you also should be glad and rejoice with me.

Your spirit of grumbling

Your desire for God’s Word

Your goals and purpose in life

Your joy

One Small Step: As you take the Lord’s Supper this morning, cultivate an attitude of thanksgiving for God’s salvation that works in you, transforming you into the image of Jesus.
