Is grumbling a sin? The apostle Paul considered it a sin worth warning the Corinthian Church about (1 Cor. 10:10). Under Moses, the people of Israel grumbled and so the Lord’s anger burned against them. As they saw the LORD’s fire descend from heaven and the grumblers fall dying, they cried out in fear and trembling to their prophet-mediator, Moses. Moses prays and the fires cease. Later the LORD promised another prophet-mediator greater than Moses (Deut. 18:18). In the Lord Jesus Christ we have the ultimate prophet-mediator whose life, death, resurrection and ascension not only delivers believers from the fire of God’s anger, forgiving our sins, but covers us with the righteousness of our Mediator-Redeemer!
