Isaiah 53 showed in graphic form the horrible pain and suffering Jesus would go through headed to the cross.
700 years before Jesus walked the earth , Isaiah predicted that he would come as a sacrifice for our sin, even though most people would not believe it.
Even today, the message of the cross is seen as foolishness to those who are perishing, but it is God’s power to us who are being saved.
Isaiah 54 describes some of the blessing that comes from what Jesus would do on the cross, for those who WOULD receive it.
Isaiah 55 invites people to be a part of that blessing.
Today let’s look at the blessing.
Isaiah uses two illustrations to describe the blessings God wants to bring.
A down and out woman
who has experienced restoration.
A barren woman
who has more children than she can handle
Don’t miss the celebration language.
A widowed woman
who finds all she needs in God
An unfaithful divorcee
whose married is restored
A desolated city
that has experienced revitalization
Rebuilt with the best material available… even extravagance 11-12
Restored with faith filled descendants and prosperity 13
No oppression 14
No fear 14
No terror 14
No successful enemies 14-17
