“The church at Corinth provided Paul with one of his greatest challenges. In this letter, he was forced to confront several problems.
This was a defiled church—some members had committed sexual immorality and drunkenness.
It was a divided church—at least four groups competed for leadership.
It was a disgraced church—its problems became known throughout the community. Paul’s letter could have become one long, verbal spanking.
Instead, Paul saw this church’s potential, despite its problems.
“The 101% Principle”—find the 1 percent you can affirm, and give it 100 percent of your attention.
As the old saying goes, you catch more bees with honey than with vinegar.”

RULE #1—Affirmation comes before Confrontation

John 8:1–11 NKJV
But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. Now early in the morning He came again into the temple, and all the people came to Him; and He sat down and taught them. Then the scribes and Pharisees brought to Him a woman caught in adultery. And when they had set her in the midst, they said to Him, “Teacher, this woman was caught in adultery, in the very act. Now Moses, in the law, commanded us that such should be stoned. But what do You say?” This they said, testing Him, that they might have something of which to accuse Him. But Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground with His finger, as though He did not hear. So when they continued asking Him, He raised Himself up and said to them, “He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first.” And again He stooped down and wrote on the ground. Then those who heard it, being convicted by their conscience, went out one by one, beginning with the oldest even to the last. And Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. When Jesus had raised Himself up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, “Woman, where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?” She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.”
John 8:1-11
The Seven Churches in Revelation

1. They were enriched by God

1 Corinthians 1:4–8 NKJV
I thank my God always concerning you for the grace of God which was given to you by Christ Jesus, that you were enriched in everything by Him in all utterance and all knowledge, even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you, so that you come short in no gift, eagerly waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will also confirm you to the end, that you may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 1:4
Vs. 5
Colossians 3:16 NKJV
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
Col.
Colossians 1:22 NKJV
in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight—
Col.
Titus 2:14 NKJV
who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.
Titus
1 John 2:28 NKJV
And now, little children, abide in Him, that when He appears, we may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming.
1John 2:
Blameless—He does not say faultless. There will always be someone that will find fault with you!

2. They had Fellowship with God (Partnership)

1 Corinthians 1:9 NKJV
God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
We are in a partnership with Christ. Everything I have belongs to HIM. We own it together! My Money, home, truck, body… everything!
Isaiah 63:9 NKJV
In all their affliction He was afflicted, And the Angel of His Presence saved them; In His love and in His pity He redeemed them; And He bore them and carried them All the days of old.
Isaiah 63:
(NKJV)
Isaiah 63:9 NKJV
In all their affliction He was afflicted, And the Angel of His Presence saved them; In His love and in His pity He redeemed them; And He bore them and carried them All the days of old.
9 In all their affliction He was afflicted, And the Angel of His Presence saved them; In His love and in His pity He redeemed them; And He bore them and carried them All the days of old.

Also in the love partnership there is a mutual service. God accommodates Himself to our weakness. I need His gentleness, and I accept His power. A verse of Scripture which deals with this is a verse that I believe has been mistranslated. This was called to my attention by G. Campbell Morgan. The verse is Isaiah 63:9: “In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old.” It sounds as if in our weakness He becomes weak. The better translation puts it in the negative: “In all affliction he was not afflicted.” That is a lot more meaningful to me. It means that when I stumble and fall, He does not stumble and fall. He accommodates Himself to my stumbling, my blindness, my ignorance, my weakness. Although He accommodates Himself to that, He does not become weak at all.

Matthew 5:23–24 NKJV
Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.
Matthew
The partnership of Jesus Christ is the solution to the problems of life.

3. They Could make positive, right decision

1 Corinthians 1:10 NKJV
Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
Responsibility: Leaders Assume Responsibility to Build Community
“Good things happen when leaders take responsibility for creating an organization’s atmosphere and culture. They create:
1. A sense of destiny: We are here by God’s design to do His work.
2. A sense of family: We are in this together.
1. A sense of destiny: We are here by God’s design to do His work.
3. A militant spirit: We must get the job done at any cost.”
