God is Great!

If you have a small god then you have big problems. But if you have a great God then you have no problems.

The size of our problems is determined by the size of our God.

Mark 9:22–23 KJV 1900

And ofttimes it hath cast him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us. Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.

“If you can”. This is the state of many prayers. ”If you can”..

Let me translate what “if you can” really means: - “I don’t know if you are great enough to do this difficult thing.”

There are a lot of “if you can” prayers being prayed.

If you can heal my body.

If you can mend my marriage.

If you can deliver me from this addiction.

If you can bring my husband/wife to salvation.

If you can help me find a job.

If you can help me find a spouse.

The list goes on, and the answer is always the same no matter what the question:

Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.

Absolutely vital to victorious christian living is the doctrine of God’s greatness.

Jeremiah 10:6 KJV 1900

Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O Lord; Thou art great, and thy name is great in might.

Ezekiel 36:23 KJV 1900

And I will sanctify my great name, which was profaned among the heathen, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know that I am the Lord, saith the Lord God, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes.

Why is it vital? Because God is in charge, and if a weak, limp-wristed, pathetic king is on the throne then all the people living fear. But if a righteous ruler with power and might is on the throne then all his subjects rejoice with confidence and thanksgiving.

Proverbs 29:2 KJV 1900

When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: But when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.

Psalm 47:2 KJV 1900

For the Lord most high is terrible; He is a great King over all the earth.

So because God is great and because God is king, then we, the people of God should have great Joy!!!

You joy, confidence and peace is proportional the size and greatness of God.

The greater God - the greater the joy.

The greater the God - the greater the Peace.

The greater God - the greater the confidence.

God is great!

God has done great things.

Psalm 136:1–4 KJV 1900

O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: For his mercy endureth for ever. O give thanks unto the God of gods: For his mercy endureth for ever. O give thanks to the Lord of lords: For his mercy endureth for ever. To him who alone doeth great wonders: For his mercy endureth for ever.

Have you thought of the great things God has done? Have you meditated on His greatness?

His greatness is displayed in creation.

Isaiah 40:26 KJV 1900

Lift up your eyes on high, And behold who hath created these things, That bringeth out their host by number: He calleth them all by names By the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; Not one faileth.

Its amazing how blind we can be.

There we are sitting on a park bench, with a body greatly made - your liver grows back if you donate half of it;

your stomach acid is strong enough to dissolve stainless steel;

you have a blind spot in your vision right in front of your eyes, but your brain fills the gap so accurately that you don’t even know its there.

There is you in this great body, designed and made by a great God and you wonder - “can God?”

You sit there in the sun, warming you body with light that left the sun 8 min 20 sec ago, it just sped a distance of 150 million km, at a speed of 300 million m/s, to arrive at your skin at the precise moment as a warm summer sun., all planned and put in place by a great God, and we wonder “can God”?

His greatness is displayed in His Victory

God had great victory when he delivered his people out of Egypt.

God had great victory when he was with king David and slew Goliath.

But God’s greatest display of victory was through Jesus Christ Christ, when he was victorious over sin.

And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

and ultimately the victory over death.

O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

God is great

God is great in his attributes. Everything that describes God is great.

God had great Love and Mercy

Psalm 108:4 KJV 1900

For thy mercy is great above the heavens: And thy truth reacheth unto the clouds.

God is not running out of love or mercy, It his geat love and mercy that saved me.

God has great love towards you - love so great that he gave his only begotten son.

God has great mercy towards you - mercy so great that God gives you want you don’t deserve and spares you from what you do deserve.

The greatness of God God’s great Love and Mercy is Jesus Christ.

God is great, and Jesus Christ’s is this great God telling you that he loves you, he wants to forgive you and he wants to be in a relationship with you.
