When Revival Breaks Loose

Today I’ve entitled this message when revival breaks loose, but really I think the word revival like many things have become muddled and confusing. Typically when we think of revival you think of a church have a set time where they are going to have a revival, and certly that can be part of it. But I want to help us rethink the Word revival , and instead of thinking about revival breaking loose, I want to think of the Word of god breaking loose. Because for far to long along with many other things in religious circles, people have said, oh don’t get to fanatical abnout Jesus, oh just keep your worship confined to your private quarters or to the walls of your church building. And for the most part the church as a whole has done that very thing. Can I tell you that the evidence of revival wont be people shaking uncontrollably, it wont be people falling flat on their backs, it wont be me waving a coat and knocking you out with My Holy Spirit Wind! When real revival breaks out, people will be humbled, the presence of God will be manifested, there will be a boldness in the believer, there will be a new level of obedience to the Word, and the Word of God will be spoken at Walmart. it will be spoken at work, it will be spoken on the bass boat, it will be spoken with your neighbor. There will be not an increase of tongues necessarily, there will be an increase of the fruits of the Spirit. When True revival takes place it won’t be confined to a building it will spread to the Streets. It will transform communities, it will transform schools, it will transform the young and the old alike. People will be getting saved and the saved will be spreading the gospel and discipling theirs. But listen when Revival breaks out the enemies of God also break out.
Acts 12:24 ESV
But the word of God increased and multiplied.

Don’t be caught off guard if you face a great crisis and the storms of life blow harder than they have ever blown before

First He will use

INTIMIDATION- THE DEVIL IS THE ULTIMATE BULLY

First off when God moves there is often times a great Crisis… and how you and I handle crisis will determine whether or not we go on with God or not

Acts 12:1–5 ESV
About that time Herod the king laid violent hands on some who belonged to the church. He killed James the brother of John with the sword, and when he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded to arrest Peter also. This was during the days of Unleavened Bread. And when he had seized him, he put him in prison, delivering him over to four squads of soldiers to guard him, intending after the Passover to bring him out to the people. So Peter was kept in prison, but earnest prayer for him was made to God by the church.
Acts 12:1-
Now let me give you the backdrop of what is happening. The tide of war is starting to shift. The war that I am speaking of isn’t any kind of human war, the war I am speaking of is the spiritual war that has been leveled against mankind, in which the Devil and His Kingdom have enjoyed a long and profitable rule over tihs creation and countless millions of souls that was first lost in the Garden of Eden.
The newly formed church has now been established. The Long Awaited Saviour of the Old Testament Scripture has arrived, lived, died, and come back to life. The powers of darkness are no longer enjoying their long established power of death, because Jesus has risen. No longer is the devil is no longer enjoying the established grip of death that terrorized humans for their entire life.
Hebrews 2:15
Hebrews 2:15 ESV
and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery.
2:15
Why? Because the Promised Saviour of the Old Testament has come, he overcame the world and all its abominations, went to a cross and
as though death he destroyed the one wh
o had the power of death, and just in case you were wondering who that was the author says the devil. When Jesus came out of the grave, the tide of war was shifted, no longer do we have to wait passively for the ugliness of death, but because of him we will live again!
In the day of Pentecost has come and now a new creation is brought to life. The Church. Those that would call on the name of the Lord would recieve the Holy Spirit. They would have unfettered access to the Throne of God. Their true glory would be revealed and they would now be seated with him, At the right hand of the throne of God.
We are not catepillars that have turned into butterflies, we are frogs that has been kissed with the kiss of Grace and become Princes. Warriors of the Most High, a new humanity, an entirely new creation.
Now they are going through the world preaching, they won’t stop, they wont shut up, they are not embarressed because they know one simple thing. Jesus is alive, and Jesus has changed everything!!
But in
Acts 12:1–2 ESV
About that time Herod the king laid violent hands on some who belonged to the church. He killed James the brother of John with the sword,
But hold on, then everything should be smooth sailing! There should be no problems, there should be no obstruction there should only be one victory after another. It would be nice if that is how it worked, but unfortunately the battle rages on, and let me give you some things that you can hold onto, some things that you can really sink your teeth into.
Without vision the people perish. This morning you need vision, you need to be able to see the unseen, to see further out than everybody around you can. Because GTod’s word is about to go out with mighty power, but the power of darkness is going to stand in the way at first very strongly, but when the momentum comes and the children of God pray, it stands like a needle in a hurricane when real revival breaks forth.
When God is on the Move so is the devil....

I. Respect the Mystery of God’s Providence

We need to respect the Mystery of God’s Providence. Now Providence is a Word that many of you may not be familiar with. Especially in today feel good preaching. We like god’s Provision, we like it when God provides, but we don’t nneccessarilly like the idea of God’s providence. Because He didn’t say that it was going to be easy, but He did say that its going to be worth it. And God’s providence, his plan, his sustaining power involves the Good the bad and the Ugly.
Here we have a wicked, Godless King named Herod is violently persecuting the church, He has killed James, the Brother of John one of the disciples that walked with Jesus. And now Peter the one in charge of the newly formed church is in prison. God what? What?
I have some friends that tomorrow, they will grieving the four year mar when their little baby died? God what? Don’t get the idea that when you serve God everything will be all honey and no bees.
Maybe your there today, “everything you thought you nailed down is coming loose and the devil is the one pulling the nails!” Yous tart serving God and then all of a sudden storm after storm hits you, hits your marriage, hits your family, hits your income!! Hits your health
It is important this morning that you need to understand something, you and I do not live by explanations, we live by faith, and in the shadows, in the unknown cosmic scheme of things God is working all things together for Good.
The couple that I am speaking of that will tomorrow grieve four years without their little boy is Bobby and Rali, who God used powerfully in the life of this church just in the last month. He used them to share some powerful insights with me that has spurred a new fire.

Adrian Rogers Sermon Archive I. Respect the Mystery of God’s Providence

Life is not a problem to be solved; it is a mystery to be lived. And, you have to back off sometimes and just simply see what I’m going to call “the hidden hand of God,” and you need to respect that

Now am I saying that God took their baby so that He might bless us, no I am not saying that, I don’t believe that God took, but I do know that God allowed, and through the fighting, crying the pain the tears, the hopeless days what it produced in them was a hopeless abandon on the Lord Jesus Christ

Adrian Rogers Sermon Archive I. Respect the Mystery of God’s Providence

There are the bad things, the good things. God, in the crucible of His wisdom, He mixes these things together for His glory. “And we know that all things work together for good.” (Romans 8:28) You don’t live by explanations. Friend, you will never ever explain God. You live by promises. And so, you’ll never get it all figured out. You know, if you’re a kid, you wonder, “Why does God put the vitamins in spinach and not in ice cream?” You let God be God. You should respect—listen to this—the mystery of God’s providence. Allow God to be God. And, just because it doesn’t make sense to you doesn’t mean it doesn’t make sense. And, if you’re in a crisis, don’t demand to understand, okay?

So James has been killed, the church is being persecuted, Peter is now imprisoned, But the tides of war about about to change again.
BUT THE PEOPLE ARE PRAYING… PRAYING LIKE THEY HAVE NEVER PRAYED BEFORE
Verse 6-19 Peter is supernaturally delivered from prison by the help of an angel. Not like your little grandaughter who is an angel, talking about one of those supernatural beings that God has created in a different realm of existence called heaven, but help the sainst here oin earth...
And not only is Peter delivered but Herod that evil wicked man is about to die....
Acts 12:23–24 ESV
Immediately an angel of the Lord struck him down, because he did not give God the glory, and he was eaten by worms and breathed his last. But the word of God increased and multiplied.
Acts 12
IN ALL OF THIS WHAT PREVAILED! THE Word of God, the Gospel of Jesus Christ continued. Many gave their life so that contless others could be rescued redeemed and enriched
Now there is about to be more subtle but just as deadly side swipes from the enmy
Now when the Devil can’t use mere frontal assaults. When His roaming about like a lion doesn’t keep the church from praying and spreading the Word of God then he moves to more subtle and wicked ways. We need to be a church that is trained a church that is ready
Peter encountered persecution now Paul and Barnabas are about to encounter the occult.... If you don’t know what the occult is the word occult literally means… something that is hidden.
NOW BEFORE YOU GET ALL WIERDED OUT ON ME AND CHECK OUT, LET ME TELL YOU THAT THE OCCULT IS SOMETHING THAT YOU NEED TO BE AWARE OF< ON THE GUARD AGAINST.
Acts 13:4–12 ESV
So, being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia, and from there they sailed to Cyprus. When they arrived at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews. And they had John to assist them. When they had gone through the whole island as far as Paphos, they came upon a certain magician, a Jewish false prophet named Bar-Jesus. He was with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, a man of intelligence, who summoned Barnabas and Saul and sought to hear the word of God. But Elymas the magician (for that is the meaning of his name) opposed them, seeking to turn the proconsul away from the faith. But Saul, who was also called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked intently at him and said, “You son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, full of all deceit and villainy, will you not stop making crooked the straight paths of the Lord? And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon you, and you will be blind and unable to see the sun for a time.” Immediately mist and darkness fell upon him, and he went about seeking people to lead him by the hand. Then the proconsul believed, when he saw what had occurred, for he was astonished at the teaching of the Lord.
Acts 13 ESV
Now there were in the church at Antioch prophets and teachers, Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen a lifelong friend of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them and sent them off. Then the proconsul believed, when he saw what had occurred, for he was astonished at the teaching of the Lord. Now Paul and his companions set sail from Paphos and came to Perga in Pamphylia. And John left them and returned to Jerusalem, but they went on from Perga and came to Antioch in Pisidia. And on the Sabbath day they went into the synagogue and sat down. After the reading from the Law and the Prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent a message to them, saying, “Brothers, if you have any word of encouragement for the people, say it.” So Paul stood up, and motioning with his hand said: “Men of Israel and you who fear God, listen. The God of this people Israel chose our fathers and made the people great during their stay in the land of Egypt, and with uplifted arm he led them out of it. And for about forty years he put up with them in the wilderness. And after destroying seven nations in the land of Canaan, he gave them their land as an inheritance. All this took about 450 years. And after that he gave them judges until Samuel the prophet. Then they asked for a king, and God gave them Saul the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for forty years. And when he had removed him, he raised up David to be their king, of whom he testified and said, ‘I have found in David the son of Jesse a man after my heart, who will do all my will.’ Of this man’s offspring God has brought to Israel a Savior, Jesus, as he promised. Before his coming, John had proclaimed a baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel. And as John was finishing his course, he said, ‘What do you suppose that I am? I am not he. No, but behold, after me one is coming, the sandals of whose feet I am not worthy to untie.’ “Brothers, sons of the family of Abraham, and those among you who fear God, to us has been sent the message of this salvation. For those who live in Jerusalem and their rulers, because they did not recognize him nor understand the utterances of the prophets, which are read every Sabbath, fulfilled them by condemning him. And though they found in him no guilt worthy of death, they asked Pilate to have him executed. And when they had carried out all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree and laid him in a tomb. But God raised him from the dead, and for many days he appeared to those who had come up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are now his witnesses to the people. And we bring you the good news that what God promised to the fathers, this he has fulfilled to us their children by raising Jesus, as also it is written in the second Psalm, “ ‘You are my Son, today I have begotten you.’ And as for the fact that he raised him from the dead, no more to return to corruption, he has spoken in this way, “ ‘I will give you the holy and sure blessings of David.’ Therefore he says also in another psalm, “ ‘You will not let your Holy One see corruption.’ For David, after he had served the purpose of God in his own generation, fell asleep and was laid with his fathers and saw corruption, but he whom God raised up did not see corruption. Let it be known to you therefore, brothers, that through this man forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you, and by him everyone who believes is freed from everything from which you could not be freed by the law of Moses. Beware, therefore, lest what is said in the Prophets should come about: “ ‘Look, you scoffers, be astounded and perish; for I am doing a work in your days, a work that you will not believe, even if one tells it to you.’ ” As they went out, the people begged that these things might be told them the next Sabbath. And after the meeting of the synagogue broke up, many Jews and devout converts to Judaism followed Paul and Barnabas, who, as they spoke with them, urged them to continue in the grace of God. The next Sabbath almost the whole city gathered to hear the word of the Lord. But when the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and began to contradict what was spoken by Paul, reviling him. And Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly, saying, “It was necessary that the word of God be spoken first to you. Since you thrust it aside and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, we are turning to the Gentiles. For so the Lord has commanded us, saying, “ ‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’ ” And when the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying the word of the Lord, and as many as were appointed to eternal life believed. And the word of the Lord was spreading throughout the whole region. But the Jews incited the devout women of high standing and the leading men of the city, stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and drove them out of their district. But they shook off the dust from their feet against them and went to Iconium. And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.
When they get there the meet a Jewish False Prophet named Bar- Jesus and this man is a false p[rophet, who is a magician - and so the apotles are spreading the Word and Revival is brieaking forth, and now the devil is about to take another angle. False Teaching, inside confusion, and blatant rebellion.
Acts 13
If you don’t think that the occult is a serious issue right here in the Bible belt Good Old East Texas you would be wrong. There are cults everywhere here, there are those practicing witchcraft and wiccans and Spiritualists all over the place. We have themn in holleywood and as we see here in the pages of scripture we have them in influential places
When Revival breaks loose, there will be a concentration of spiritual enemies,
First off I want you to recognize the man’s name- His name is Bar-Jesus. Which literally means the son of Jesus. Now when true revival breaks out and God’s spirit is on the move you need to be aware that Satan will have his spirits also on the move. When Satan can stop God’s moving, he will then do everything he can to distort God’s movement. Andf it is important that you be spiritually discerning and learn how to pray and ask God is this from you?
Because if you do not you will fall for one of Satans fake plays, you will recieve a phony word, you will get God’s voice confused with the enemies and then you will fizzle out. ‘
A DIFFERENT JESUS/ Satan is the master of Counterfeits.
Do you know that Satan has a different Jesus , a counterfeit Jesus. He has a counterfeit Jesus that Demons will confess to serving. But they don’t mean the same Jesus. When the Cults talk about Jesus, they are not referring to the same jesus. When the Mormons talk about Jesus, they are not referring to the same Jesus. They will claim so, but the Jesus that they believe in was humna who evolved into godhood just like they think they will evolve into one day. Sorry not the same Jesus. The Jesus of the Jehovas wirtnesses is not the same Jesus. Sorry Jesus didn’t start out as
Satan has a different gospel out there. A gospel of good works and good living, being the way to heaven rather than trust in the son of God alone leading to a transformed life that involves good works..
Story of Dillon- Called Jesus His Father… and then nearly beat the holy mess out of a guy and began to curse perfusely....

God’s Truth A closer examination of this encounter in reveals precisely what occult practitioners, knowingly or unknowingly, truly are:
1. They are in league with Satan and possess certain supernatural powers.
2. They are false prophets.
1. They are in league with Satan and possess certain supernatural powers. 2. They are false prophets. 3. They seek to influence people politically and ecclesiastically, particularly those in positions of power (vv. 6–7). 4. They attempt to prevent those who are seeking to hear the Word of God from learning it by opposing those who preach it (v. 8). 5. They deliberately attempt to divert prospective converts from the faith as their ultimate goal (v. 8).

In contrast to this, the judgment of the Holy Spirit is explicit:
1. He calls such attempts and practices “full of all kinds of deceit and trickery” (v. 10 NIV). 2. He designates occultism and the occult as having its origin with the devil, by calling Bar-Jesus “son of the devil” (v. 10). 3. He unmasks the occultists’ tactics and declares them to be enemies of all that is righteous. He calls them perverters of the ways of the Lord, which are designated as “straight,” or right (v. 10).

2. He designates occultism and the occult as having its origin with the devil, by calling Bar-Jesus “son of the devil” (v. 10).
If this were not sufficient, the Spirit then struck the occultist (a medium) blind and used this judgment to convince Sergius Paulus, the seeker after truth, that the gospel of Jesus Christ is the truth and that the way of occultism leads to destruction. Neither has His attitude altered toward those who teach such practices, and those who persist in pursuing them for their own ends.

Watchers on the Wall
Colossians 4:2 ESV
Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving.
We have to learn how to be watchful in prayer. For each other, for our loved ones, when the Spirit of God puts a check in our spirits about one of our brothers or sisters in Christ, we must bring these things to the Father, being on high alert. If we could only grasp the fact that we have access into infinite power!
We can enter into the gates of the Almighty with confidence and Grace if we have messed up. But many of the issues that people are facing today are of a spiritual nature.
1. They are in league with Satan and possess certain supernatural powers.
2. They are false prophets.
3. They seek to influence people politically and ecclesiastically, particularly those in positions of power (vv. 6–7).

More and More people are moving into the Occult. More kids are experimenting with it more tha ever.
