10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,

Belt of Truth

it begins with truth
the truth brings freedom

31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

There are 2 great truths in essential to the Gospel of Christ
I am a great sinner
Jesus is a great savior
In those two truths we have the problem

23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

This is a big problem because of whom you have sinned against
You have sinned, rebelled against an eternal God and the punishment for such an offence is eternal
because you have sinned against an eternal God, you have recieved an everlasting punishment
The punishment is just and right

25 Far be it from You to do such a thing as this, to slay the righteous with the wicked, so that the righteous should be as the wicked; far be it from You! Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?”

Abraham then negotiates with God at this point.
He asks God if he would spare Sodom for the sake of 50, 45, 40, 30, 20, 10
He should have asked a follow up question, will you spare the city for 1
Because in that answer we find our blazing light, that shining truth in the night, which is the Good News
because gospel means good news
and we have the only solution to that problem

18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit,

You must accept both the problem and the solution.
You must believe what He says about you, and then you must believe what He has done for you.

17 When Jesus heard it, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”

Jesus has nothing to say to the self righteous. I wonder why the church seems to have so much to them.

14 For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; 15 and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.

Conclusion:
Stick of gum
But Jesus really died, He made His soul an offering for sin

4 Surely He has borne our griefs

And carried our sorrows;

Yet we esteemed Him stricken,

Smitten by God, and afflicted.

5 But He was wounded for our transgressions,

He was bruised for our iniquities;

The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,

And by His stripes we are healed.

6 All we like sheep have gone astray;

We have turned, every one, to his own way;

And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all

“You shall know the Truth and the Truth shall set you free”
Jesus says, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life”
