Spring Forward Pt 11 The Presence of the God of Peace ()
Last week Justin talked about the Secret of the Peace of God.
4 Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice! 5 Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon.]
6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. ()
Paul in his letter to the Philippians in the fourth chapter tells us two things, one is the “Peace of God” and the other is being in the “Presence of the God of Peace.” In your life
Last week Justin shared with us from Philippians the fourth chapter verses 4-7 about the secret of the Peace of God. First he said stop being anxious, do not have the habit of worry. God’s word instructed us that in days of tension and trouble, in days of frustration and failure, instead of worrying, take it to the Lord in Prayer. Why prayer because pray is the essence of worship and devotion to God. We should be anxious for nothing, prayerful for everything, and thankful for anything.
tells us “7 Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.” And the results if I do, the “Peace of God” will guard your heart and mind as you live in Christ. Now what I want to talk to you some about today is having the “Peace of God” is different than “Peace with God.” You make peace with God when we ask Jesus Christ to come into our life and forgive us of our sins and trust our life to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. It’s called Salvation. All Christians have “Peace with God” and Christians can also have what Justin talked about last week the “Peace of God” and that is an inward tranquility of the Christian soul that is grounded in God’s presence, God’s promises in your life, and God’s power working in your life. See you can be a Christian and have made “Peace with God through Jesus Christ without having the “Peace of God” in your life. Peace with God is dependent upon faith, and the peace of God is dependent upon prayer.
Peace with God describes the state between God and the Christian, and the peace of God describes the condition within the Christian life.
(NLT) says You will keep in perfect peace
all who trust in you,
all whose thoughts are fixed on you! (What does that mean fixed on you? Those who are fixed on His word, the Bible, His promises and His power and not the cares of this world.)
Trust in the Lord always, the Lord God is the eternal Rock.
Paul says to us in “Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace[a] with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.” You can make peace with Peace with God through Jesus Christ but that doesn’t mean you automatically the “Peace of God” in your life guarding your hearts and Minds. Peace with God is dependent upon faith, and the peace of God is dependent upon prayer.
Now today I want to talk to you from God’s word the bible about having the Presence of the God of Peace in your life always. So we have three things we have the Peace with God, you are no longer His enemy. We have the peace of God working in their life guarding your hearts and mind but it is not automatic we see in verse 4-7 how to obtain that… And then in verse 8 and 9. Paul tells us how we can have the presence of the God of peace with me always. Paul says Bill you can be in a state of mind, under the influence of the presence of the God of Peace and this is how Bill. In any situation in your life. And Paul’s teaches us:
8 And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. 9 Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you. ( NLT)
I find it interesting that Paul doesn’t give us a list of things… like a grocery list. Instead He says be like me follow my example. When you learn something here at Calvary start applying it in your life. Fix your thoughts on them… Spring Forward Pt 11 The Presence of the God of Peace ()
