Read:
Jesus is speaking here in . He is speaking with regard to what actually is our problem. Our problem is stated very clearly in verse 15 and verse 23. The problem that we have is not on the outside of us. Our problem is from the inside. Our problem begins with us. The problem is with our hearts.
Have you ever tried to pass the blame of something you did onto someone or something else? Please explain.

Why are we so prone to excuses?
Is it hard to admit that it is your heart and your sin that truly is what separates you from having a relationship with God? Why?
Why is it necessary for us to admit that we are sinners?
Read:
Yesterday, we discussed the reality of our situation.
To summarize: because of our sin, we stand guilty before a holy God.
All of of us have sinned. All of us have broken God’s Law. Our sin deserves punishment.
Question:
Does God have to punish sin?
What does it mean that God is Holy?
What does it mean that we are not?
Does God have to punish sin?
God is holy and we are not, and God must punish sin. This is the bad news: Apart from Jesus Christ and His work, we all stand condemned and cannot have a relationship with Christ.
The GOOD NEWS is this:
Romans 5:6–8 NASB95

Romans 5:8 NASB95
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
While we were sinners, Christ died for us.
While we were sinners, Christ died for us.
Reflection:
What words describe us in the previous verses?
According to the previous verses, what has Christ done for the ungodly sinners?
Why was Christ’s dying necessary?
