ME

Story: Blazer tag Story
I’m awesome at lazer tag
But kept popping up - who keeps hitting me
aggravating - powning some newbs - but I would always get hit
But I didn’t even get top 5 because of the person following me
Found out who it was - one of my good friends
Getting tired of me winning - so just following me around - hitting me every time.
There was mystery - who was this person that kept ruining and affecting my “lif”
Sometimes we think God acts like this

WE

He doesn’t show himself but just affects our lives
But we do know who He is and what he does
The Bible - it is talking about his motives - his truths

WE

What is the bible? Have you ever thought about that?
Self Help Book
Book of Motivational Sayings
“Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth”
Just a Really Big Book
Who Wrote the Bible?
People?
God?
Both?
But how does that even work?
BIG IDEA: God’s Thoughts, Human Words

GOD

Established that the Bible is God’s Thoughts, in Human words but how does that work?
Let’s Look to the Word itself to see the answer.

Breathed Out

2 Timothy 3:16–17 NIV
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Big word to look at is God-breathed
In the Original Greek - its a cool word - θεοπνευστος
God and Spirit - in an adjective
Of God’s Spirit - God/Breathed
These are God’s words - The things he set up forth into the human writers
This is not the Ghost Writer situation
Biography - most are written with Ghost Writers
More like Paradise Lost - Milton
He was completely blind when we wrote and sick - so the entire book was dictacted to another
still not 100% correct as we see later
It is profitable
teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in rightouessnes
We can get a lot out of the Scripture
Because its the word of God the value is high.

Carried Along

2 Peter 1:20–21 NIV
Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
God Carried along the information to the writers
They were able to write in their own style, because the Holy Spirit was carrying the information and truth to them
Sail Boat (PICTURE)
The boat is what is moving - but the wind is what is making it move
The human authors were the boat - they were moving and writing down the creating the scripture
But was pushing the people on - it was God who was pushing them along.
Shouldn’t Think about God taking over people like a possession
It was not like Paul was sitting at his desk and thanking NOOOOOO MY HAND IS MOVING! and having no way to stop it
Paul wrote but what was being carried along was from God.

Expressed by the Spirit

1 Corinthians 2:12–13 NIV
What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words.
Understand what God has freely given us
He has given us his word and the spirit is around to help us understand what he has given us.
Authors were putting what God expressed into human terms - they were not just typewriters
Each Author (there are about 40) used their own writing style, and their own words
God let them be creative and be themselves.
The authors claim their own authorship.
They did writer the scripture
But every scripture comes from God and the Author
This is important - Verbal Plenary

YOU

So what does that mean that Scripture is from God - that is is his thoughts brought out into human words?
Three Main THings
Authority - because they are God’s Words - they have authority and power over our lives
Sufficiency - these words are enough and all we need. There are not any other “books” or additions that we need to scripture.
Inerrancy - The Bible is not wrong. As a whole and each section is without error

WE

Because scripture is God-Breathed it is something that should change our lives
WE should obey and follow
THis is not just another book
You are HEARING from God when you read
