Introduction

Last week, we took a look at how Jesus appeared to John on the isle of Patmos. Jesus did not appear to John as the suffering Savior, the crucified Christ, or even the Risen Redeemer. Jesus appeared to John as the conquering King.
His voice was loud, like the sound of a trumpet. His robe was long, down to His feet, with a sash of gold around His chest. His garments pointed to His priesthood and royalty. He is the High Priest and He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords! His hair is white as snow, and His eyes like a flame of fire. His feet were like brass refined in a furnace, and His voice like the sound of many waters. He had seven stars in His right hand, and a sharp two-edged sword came from His mouth! His face was like the sun shining in its strength.
Our savior came the first time out of love - He died for the world.
The next time He comes, He will establish His kingdom on earth and bring judgment on those who are against Him, those who have rejected Him, and even on sin itself.
Last week, we looked at what Jesus looked like and how it described who He is. John also reminded us just who Jesus is and what He has done. Let’s look again in .
Revelation 1:
Revelation 1:4–8 NKJV
John, to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace to you and peace from Him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven Spirits who are before His throne, and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen. “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Jesus is timeless!

He declares of Himself:
Revelation 1:
Revelation 1:8 NKJV
“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
He was present with God the Father and God the Holy Spirit before the creation of the universe.
Jesus’s declaration here is a declaration of deity. He is declaring Himself to be God. In fact He is using the same description here that John uses for the the Father in verse 4.
Revelation 1:4 NKJV
John, to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace to you and peace from Him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven Spirits who are before His throne,
John 1:4 NKJV
In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.
Remember when we looked at Jesus walking on water and Moses at the burning bush? Both the Father and the Son described themselves as, “I am.” We saw that a complete translation would be: “I was, I am, and I will forever be.”
The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit transcend time. While God does operate within time, He is in no way constrained by it. He created time.
We measure time by how long it takes to orbit the sun, which is a year. We break the year down into months, weeks, and days. The day is 24 hours long. All of this was set in motion when God formed the Sun, Moon, and Earth.
Those that were saved in the Old Testament looked forward to the Messiah’s sacrifice. Those of us that are saved today looked back 2000 years to the cross.
Time is held in God’s hand and He has provided time for you to repent. He withholds His judgment to provide time for sinners to repent. We do not know how long He will withhold His judgement. We just know that it is coming.

Jesus is King of kings!

Revelation 1:5 NKJV
and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood,
He is the ruler over the kings of the earth. He is subject to no government, but every government is under subjection to Him. Unfortunately, most, if not all are operating in rebellion toward Him.
Even in their rebellion and one day their united rebellion, they can not bring Him down. His claim to the throne and authority are irrevocable.
He is not threatened by the nations of this world. He is not powerless before them. His patience should not be misunderstood as weakness. He is providing time for people to repent, but there is a reckoning coming very soon.

Jesus is love.

Jesus was and is the ultimate display of God’s love.
John 3:16
John 3:16 NKJV
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
Romans 5:8 NKJV
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

He washed us in His own blood.

The high price of sin is life.
Genesis 9:4 NKJV
But you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood.
God is telling us that life is in the blood. We had a church member that had surgery a few weeks ago. The day after the surgery, she felt awful and could hardly stand up without feeling faint. They tested her blood and saw that she was low. They gave her 2 units of blood and it was remarkable how different she felt after receiving the blood.
Leviticus 17:11 NKJV
For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul.’
Jesus poured out His blood on the cross of calvary to wash our sins away.
Jesus poured out His blood on the cross of calvary to wash our sins away.
It is only by the blood of Christ that we can be saved.
The blood of Christ is the priceless cost of our sin. It is the price that Jesus paid to redeem our souls. God found so much worth in you that He sent His son to die for you. Have you been saved? You can be today! You can be washed clean by the blood of Jesus Christ. His blood can wash even the vilest of sinners clean.
Once we are saved, we must live holy lives and not be stained by the world. When Christians live with habitual and willful sin, they are in danger of God’s judgment because of the blood of Christ.
Hebrews 10:26–31 NKJV
For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries. Anyone who has rejected Moses’ law dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace? For we know Him who said, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. And again, “The Lord will judge His people.” It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
The reason for the worldliness and sinfulness in the church is that those who profess to be Christians have viewed the blood of Christ as something common.
There is nothing common about the blood of Jesus Christ. The blood of Christ not only cleanses us from our sin, but demands our holy living. It demands that we set aside worldliness and sinfulness. It requires us to live lives of obedience!

He made us kings and priests.

Not only did Jesus pour out His blood for our sins, but those that believe in Him are saved and made kings and priests.
Being a king and priest means that we have the authority of the one who has made us kings and priests. When we are born again, Christ Jesus gives us authority.
We fail to exercise our authority. We have authority over temptation. We can resist temptation and flee from sin.
We are told to resist the devil. We have authority to resist.
Not only do we have authority, but we have the right and position of intercession. We can pray for others. We must pray for the souls of the lost. When it comes to eternity, God is not going to value your prayers for someones physical illness as much as He values your prayers for their soul! We should constantly pray with eternity in mind!

Jesus is coming!

When Jesus comes, there will be a reckoning of the Earth.
Revelation 1:7 NKJV
Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.
Everyone who has denied His existence.
Everyone that has misused His name.
Everyone that has questioned His Word.
Everyone that has rejected Him.
Everyone that has misused His Word.
Everyone that has ever lived will see Him, even those that drove the nails in His hands and feet!
Everyone will see Him coming with clouds.
All the tribes of earth will mourn because of Him.
One day, humanity will no longer look at each other or its problems.
One day, humanity will no longer celebrate sinfulness.
One day, humanity will no longer exalt itself with pride.
One day, Jesus is coming in the clouds and all the Earth will mourn because of Him.
They will mourn because He is coming in judgment.
They will mourn because the offer of grace will be closed.
They will mourn because the offer of salvation will no longer be found.
Jesus is coming. He is coming as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
He is coming to judge the living and the dead.
He is coming! Are you ready?

Decision

Today is the day of salvation. If you are lost, come as we sing and be saved!
If you are saved, but you have something in your life that you would rather not be there when Jesus comes, then come give it to Him. Repent and be free.
