The surprises of the Good News
They include the bad news: the world around us is in need
The necessity of the gospel
The Person & Work of God the Son is necessary to deal with the way the world is, here and now.
Our call to proclaim it by participation
Last surprise: what lies at the center of our participation
That last surprise - The human connection.
Yes, the Apostle is acknowledging the way the world is, and prescribes a way to correct it.
We must engage this life - what I called the here and now - at all levels:
Dealing with society at large
But also at home
And specially on the personal level.
But he remained focus on people.
Personal (vv.21,22)
Community (vv.23,24)
The central element - His grace (v.25)
When participating in this life we must remember: humans are made in God’s image.
This is the first battlefield for the gospel in our own hearts
The way we treat others show what is really in our heart.
Our heart is exposed by the way we treat others.
Think Starbucks
This confrontation could be a reason to retreat, but...
Under the guidance of God the Holy Spirit, human interaction is a great abrasive for the pride covering our heart.
God the Holy Spirit can remove our pride using human interaction.
Church! Let us
Repent of our apathy, of our misguided participation
Let us repent of treating others with less dignity. Those around us are never just projects.
Be concerned about this life, with eternity in mind, considering the Triune God of the Universe is Lord over all.
Worship Him by loving greatly, by loving in the way He loves us.
Let us worship the Triune God by loving those around us in the way He loves us.
Now, come to see, experience, and take with you that love.
