Have you ever misplaced something? Searched but never found it.

One of the tragedies of life is searching and never finding.

Lost Oakley sunglasses. $180.00. Never found them. I was sick.
Isaiah 55:6 NKJV
Seek the Lord while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near.
There will be a day when the Lord cannot be found. This can be hard to imagine.
Esau sought a place of repentance and found none.
Hebrews 12:17 NKJV
For you know that afterward, when he wanted to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no place for repentance, though he sought it diligently with tears.
Hebrews 11:17 NKJV
By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,
Hebrews

Second is the tragedy of looking in the wrong place.

When Saul was rejected by God as King. The Philistines came to make ware with Israel.
Driven by fear Saul sought the Spirit of God, but was cut off. Even though he sought thru prophets, dreams, and mediums. God would not answer him. Eventually Saul went to a witch at En Dor.
Searching for love in the wrong places. Wrong person in the wrong place.
When Jesus parents lost Him.
They sought him among their kin folks in the caravan.
He was not among the acquaintances they had made on the journey.
He was at the Father’s house.
Searching today:
Not in tradition. A relationship with God is meant to be experienced.
Not in self directed religion. We need the body of Christ.
Not in like minded friends. We need correction.

How can I avoid falling into one of these two tragedies.

He can be found.
Acts 17:27 NKJV
so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us;
He is not far...
Get to know Him…Know His desires, His loves, His hates…etc.
He seeks us.
If we sought Him as fervently as He has searched for us…there would be a happy meeting.
Jeremiah 29:10–14 NKJV
For thus says the Lord: After seventy years are completed at Babylon, I will visit you and perform My good word toward you, and cause you to return to this place. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, says the Lord, and I will bring you back from your captivity; I will gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you, says the Lord, and I will bring you to the place from which I cause you to be carried away captive.
Call on Him.
He will hear, and He will respond.
Search with all our heart.
You will find me.
