How many of you are living as a slave to your own sin? over the next 10 weeks we will observe how the 10 comandments apply to us today
there are ten commandments
No other God’s Before me
2.
Do not make any graven image
3. Do not take the name of the Lord your God in Vain
4. Remember the Sabbath and keep it Holy
5. Honor your father and mother
6. Do not kill
7. do not commit adultery
8. to not steal
9. do not bear false witness
10. Do not covet
All of these except one, remember the sabbath and keep it Holy are still applicable today
(on Power point)

3 Do not have other gods besides me.
The first commandment is made incredibly personal the word you are used. This command is addresses to each person and individual. “You will have no other God’s before me”
The first comandment is made incrredibly personal the word you is used. This comad is addresses to each person and individual. “You will have no other God’s before me”
This command still is in place today it was not given for only Israel we know this for a few reasons.
God is still God today and he is the same God as he was in the Old testament, and He still requires our worship
As long as God loves the world and Christ is the savior of the world we need to obey this commandment, and last time I checked those two items will never end.

I. What is forbidden

A. Man is not to set himself up as God
a. do not deny God, declaring there is no God(atheism)
Psalm 14:1 CSB

b. man is not to question God saying he may or may not exist ( agnosticism)
c. Man is not to declare that man Himself is the supreme being the ultmate authority over the world ( humanism)

D
God’s command makes a demand “You shall have no other God’s before me
a. We are to set no Gods before the Lord
b. We are to set no Gods beside the Lord
d. God and God alone holds his place as the Lord.
If we set up anything that rivals interest in our hearts and minds anything that takes our love and service which belongs only to God, we have broken this commandment.
a. a proud man who idolizes himself makes himself God
b. the ambitious man who pays homage to popular applause makes his ambition and the praise of men is His God

in all of these Isiah 42:8 applies God does not share , nor should he his glory
(on Power point)
Isaiah 42:8 CSB
8 I am the Lord. That is my name, and I will not give my glory to another or my praise to idols.
In His epistle to the Corinthians Paul wrote:
(on Power point)
1 Corinthians 8:5–6 CSB
5 For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth—as there are many “gods” and many “lords”—6 yet for us there is one God, the Father. All things are from him, and we exist for him. And there is one Lord, Jesus Christ. All things are through him, and we exist through him.
1 Cor 8:5
We can make a God out of anything that we esteem or love, fear or serve more than God. Whatever the heart clings to that a person’s god.
It may be oneself, many people focus on pleasing and satisfying themselves they live their own values and our concerned primarily with their own feelings, comfort, desires, and pleasures. they simply live like they want doing their own thing they have exalted themselves to be their own gods. Gods are made out of many things
-animals
-family-money
-sports
-position
-carear
-posesions
-ext.
A god can be anything or anyone we put before GOD. God and God alone deserve our allegiance, he does not share this as we see in the firs commandment
